Behind every appointment, every phone call, and every counseling/therapy session is someone who truly cares.

Our staff members chose this work because they believe people deserve support, understanding, and access to care close to home.

In rural communities across Southeast Kansas, many individuals face barriers to mental health care. Distance, stigma, and limited resources can make it harder to ask for help.

That’s why our team works every day to make care more accessible.

As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, we are committed to providing comprehensive services that address the whole person. That includes mental health treatment, substance use services, crisis support, care coordination, and prevention.

But at the heart of it all is something simple: connection.

Because sometimes the most powerful part of healing is knowing someone is willing to listen.

Many seniors spend their time caring for others, helping family, watching grandkids, and looking out for neighbors.

At the same time, they might also be managing multiple medications of their own.

Understanding the signs of an overdose and how naloxone works isn’t just helpful, it can be lifesaving for you or someone close to you.

Join us for Opioid Overdose Education & Naloxone Distribution training on April 7 from 5:30-6:30 PM in Yates Center.

In just one hour, you can learn simple steps that could save a life.

For many people, gambling doesn’t look like a crisis at first. It can look like constantly thinking about the next bet, chasing losses, or feeling stressed when trying to stop.💙

Travis Buck represented SEKMHC at Mustang NextStep Night at Iola High School, connecting with students and families who stopped by the Mustangs for Mental Health table. Over the course of the evening, 155 people visited the table to learn about opportunities in the mental health field, including the Mental Health Technician certificate program through Allen Community College and job shadowing experiences.

We’re proud of the impact Travis is making by opening doors for students who may be interested in building a future in mental health and supporting their communities. 💚

Imagine waking up each day feeling like everything is too heavy.

Work, family, finances, relationships. It all piles up until you’re not sure how much longer you can carry it.

Now imagine finding the courage to ask for help.

Sometimes that help starts with something simple: someone sitting down and listening.

At SEKMHC, moments like that happen every day. Our team works alongside people as they take the first steps toward stability and healing through counseling, crisis services, and support resources.

Change doesn’t happen overnight.
But hope has a way of growing, one step at a time.
