We are currently dealing with hazardous conditions due to the ongoing ice storm.

There are numerous downed trees, limbs, and power lines throughout the area. These hazards may not be visible until it’s too late.

⚠️ Please remember:
- Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary

- Watch for falling branches and trees—conditions are still changing
- Never approach downed power lines—assume they are live
- Emergency services are responding, but high volume of call/conditions may cause delays

Staying home helps keep you safe and allows crews to focus on critical calls.

Please check on neighbors if you can do so safely, and continue to monitor updates.

Due to weather Iola-Scandinavia Schools will be clsoed today 12/10. There will be no activities. The elementary musical program will be rescheduled for Thursday 12/11.

The Iola Fire Department would like to send a big thank you to our neighboring departments/agencies that came to assist us last evening with a structure fire.

We would not have been able to get the fire under control and save the structure without the rapid responses and hard work from all of you.
