Well at 6pm this pm I turned off the lights for the last time at My pharmacy and locked the door at My Pharmacy for the last tIme. At midnite tonite I will officially retire and Brian & Jenna Trahan will tske over and will be owners of Iota Family Pharmacy. As I turned off the lights and walked through the store (alone) for the last time I thought back over the last 25 years of owning my pharmacy in Iota. I thought about how my kids were raised in the pharmacy and how many events I missed they were in. I want to thank Erica & Lindsey my two oldest who were there from the beginning and the sacrifices they had to put up with and all the hours I spent trying to make a living. These two are so precious to me for always standing beside me and all the things I missed in their lives. And I thought about Ben and Emilie my next two who endured the hours of me working and dragging them to work also and how much I appreciate and love them. And lastly Annslee the youngest who has spent more hours with me at work than I can count. My kids gave up a lot (mostly my time with them) but they never complained and saw how much I loved being a pharmacist and helping people. I love all of them and want to thank them for all they gave. Then I want to thank all of my workers from my techs to my drivers. Janice and Lisa who have been with me the longest over 14 years who put up with me all of this time and stood by me. They are truly good friends more than employees. Then I have Jade who has been with me almost 10 years and who made my day with her smile. She always had this smile that warmed my heart like one of my children. Then I have Dayle and Kelly who started with me years ago, left and came back and became part of my family as we each griped about our kids. LOL. I also have Carol my behind the scenes office manager who showed up at the right time. She filled it and took care of not just the pharmacy but of my many personal matters with a smile and all the vaccine clinics she managed and all the road trips we made from nursing home to nursing home. I also had two great delivery drivers Greg & Burney who took care of more than just phmcy deliveries making my job easier. And last my two pharmacist Raphael & Kerry who without them I would have worked more than I wanted to and would cover me many times at the last minute. From my kids to my employees I can’t thank each of them enough and how much I appreciated each of them in their own way. Next I want to thank ALL the great people of Iota and the area for believing in me and my family for welcoming a stranger into their town and hearts. They gave and made my pharmacy what it is today. The gave me a chance and I tried to show them how much I appreciate each and everyone one of them. They are truly a little town with a big heart. Thank each and everyone of y’all and I appreciate all of you Lastly but not least I want to thank someone very special to me. Who has stood by me in thick and thin Through me having to go in middle of nite to pharmacy to having to go after hurricanes have passed after our house was messed up to fill medicine at the pharmacy. She knew how important it was to me and the patient. She knew how much I loved my profession and how much I loved my customers. She stood in the wings and not many know her but she is truly one of a kind. Loving and giving and thoughtful. Her name is Lisa and she has made my life so much easier and nicer not just taking care of me but my family as well. As I locked the door for the final tIme my heart was sad and happy. Sad for all the times I will miss seeing my customers and employees but happy they will have someone who I know will take care of them as good or better than I have all these years. This is a bitter-sweet time for me and tomorrow i will start a new chapter in my life. I hope to see you on the Thursday’s I work not as an owner but a pharmacist which I love to do. Again thank all of you for supporting me and believing in me all these years.

Starting Monday Feb 13. New Owners Brian & Jenna Trahan.
Just a name change with new owners same business as usual with new ideas coming!!!
You will still see all the old employees on daily basis including mine (Greg) on Thursday’s only and when Brian needs a break. LOL
Congrats & Good Luck. You will do great for this community. So happy for y’all.

In 11 days a new owner Brian Trahan and his wife Jenna will be taking over my pharmacy. He is an Iota native and worked for me years ago. He will be a perfect fit for my business, my pharmacy and the town. I can’t wait to see all the new ideas he will bring to the new pharmacy. At midnite Feb 11, 2023 Miller’s Family Pharmacy will officially close and I will retire and At 12:01 AM, Iota Family Pharmacy will open and Brian Trahan will be the new owner/pharmacist. Good Luck Brian & Jenna and Iota Family Pharmacy. We are very excited to have him take over the reigns and make it into his pharmacy.

The end of 22 and the beginning of 23 bring the closing of the old and the beginning of the new. With this said, I want to make an announcement; I am retiring. With my birthday in one week and turning 65, it was a long and hard decision to make. I’ve discussed this with my children and family many times over the last few months. They grew up in my pharmacy and became part of it almost as much as I have. Medical issues and the need for stress reduction were also factors in my retirement.

I have enjoyed getting to know ALL the people in the Iota area- a little town with a big heart. I’ve become good friends with many and over the last 25 years, and pray that I have had a meaningful impact on this great community.

When I opened on Jan 2, 1997, it was a new start for me, and y’all opened y’all’s arms and hearts to me and my family. I have always supported the community, and y’all have supported me 10 fold. Back in Feb 2012, I took another big leap. Iota Medical Complex was opened, and you continued to support me. I will forever be grateful and humbled by your faith in me. I love working as a pharmacist and seeing and talking to my customers, so I will continue to work at the pharmacy only one day per week and will continue to do vaccines, all of which I greatly enjoy. I am Turing over the reigns to a younger version of me. My last official day will be midnight on Saturday, February 11, 2023 and on Sunday I will be a pharmacist working for a new owner.

I have greatly and deeply enjoyed owning and working in Iota. Now it’s time to relax some and spend more time with my family. 40 years as a pharmacist and 25 of them as an owner could never have happened without the dedication, loyalty, and support from my crew- techs to drivers. Thank you, Janice, Lisa, Jade, Dayle, Kelly, Carol , Greg, and Burney for all your help and dedication
I greatly appreciate all you have done for the pharmacy, my family and myself

Now to introduce who will be taking over my pharmacy. He was raised in Iota and is working at a local hospital pharmacy. Brian Trahan will be bringing in new ideas and keeping many of our old standards. When we met several months ago, I felt he was a perfect fit for my ideals of my pharmacy and the people of Iota. I have been approached several times over last couple years by several people to buy my pharmacy but never seemed quite the fit for me. He was the perfect fit for what I was wanting in a pharmacist/owner. He is a good pharmacist and will continue to run the pharmacy as I have developing his own dreams and vision to make this pharmacy his own.

In closing, I wish Brian Trahan the best of luck! I know he will come to love and appreciate this community as I have. I will miss you all.
I hope you will continue to support Brian and his family the way you supported me and mine.
