Perseus was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on April 25th, 2022 at 21 months old.

This page is simply just to follow our sweet boys journey and fight against Leukemia.

It’s been our families pleasure to donate to the University of Iowa Stead Family ever year in October. 🎃 We still plan on added Halloween items to our list, but the Ronald McDonald House is in need of donations as well. 🫶🏼

You guys FULLY STOCKED the family pantry last year + I’m hoping we can help out again. Hundreds and thousands of families use these pantries and it’s a big way to help ease the financial burden of spending time in the hospital.

Not to mention when your child on steroids or other medications starts begging you for food at 3 AM. 😅 Like usual, you can also send money to my Venmo and the kids go to Target near the hospital to secure the goods. 😎

It’s taken me awhile to post anything publicly, but HIP HIP HOORAY, WE HAD PORT REMOVAL DAY!! 🎗️💛🥳

This doesn’t mean he’s done with treatment yet, but we can physically see the finish line!! 🏁

Port removal surgery went very well + his incision is closing up nicely. He did have a very hard time waking up, but when he came around he was all smiles and wanted hot dogs + french fries.🍟

However, he’s been having a really hard time since his surgery. He is not feeling well at all and is refusing to eat. He has lost 3 pounds, but he did ask for TACOS tonight so hopefully that means he’s feeling more like himself. 🌮 He is also on steroids, which are causing him all types of big emotions.

Please pray his sweet body to feel better soon + pray we avoid any other measures to get him healthy besides rest. My mama heart is so anxious. ❤️‍🩹

The Level 11 Family Pantry is running LOW!

We are looking to help stock it again and you guys BLEW US AWAY with your generosity last time we did a haul.

This is a cupboard in the family room that provides food and snacks to all families inpatient. This helps relieve the burden of paying for food during admissions, trying to find food during unexpected late night admissions or when the steroids take over your child’s hunger.

It’s been awhile since I’ve given an update. ❤️‍🩹

Percy has had one fever and trip to the University of Iowa, which he was quickly sent home after some testing! He also has another mystery rash and has a growing dark spot on his toe that we are monitoring. Other than that, he’s our perfect 3 year old boy! 😇

I want to start off first saying, I hope and pray you all know how much we love and appreciate you all. Without your support, there are MANY times our family couldn’t have stayed afloat. I apologize for the few and infrequent updates.

As Percy as grown, I have thought more and more about his privacy. While we’ve always kept it mild on our page and try not to show his absolute most vulnerable moments, but I find myself not wanting to be on my phone at all when we do treatment and be present in the moment.

My 2023 New Year’s resolution was to find my way back to my faith, because quite frankly after having my 1 year old diagnosed with cancer, I was quite mad with Him. Easter we went to church for the first time. Lo and Behold, we are still attending the same church. ⛪️🤍We’ve started to build SO many relationships with others and I met one of my absolute best friends in the entire world and a sister in Christ I can lean on. Percy + Penelope LOVE their classmates, teachers, pastors.. plus those dang slides. 😆🩷

Anyway, our 2024 resolution is to do 21 Days of Prayers + Fasting with our church. After the New Year, we’ll be signing off of social media for awhile! We’re still discussing what else we’ll be doing privately, but I’m also doing a 90 day devotional with a friend and I’m so excited!

We can’t wait for Christmas + to show you all what Percy did! Just know after that if you don’t hear from us, he’s okay! ⛪️🎄🧡 He was SO cute in his Christmas concert at church!

This sweet boy has an appointment today. 🎗️

It should be super quick and easy, but I do ask you pray that the rash/cough/runny nose he developed late last night is nothing serious. His whole body is covered in a rash and a few on his leg look almost like sores.

On the bright side, we get to spend all day with Gigi + little sister in Iowa City!! 🧡

Percy’s Halloween Haul raised over $1,000 worth of candy and goodies for the hospital!

We made over 130 goodie bags. About 100 bags of assorted potato chips. Energy drinks. Beef jerky. Beef sticks. Plus things like claw clips, make up wipes, spa facial masks. Multiple gifts for child life.

Not to mention 5 DOZEN Cookies & Dreams cookies. 🍪🦇✨🎗️🖤

We had two packages that did not make it in time, so at this rate we may be doing another haul someday. 😉

Taking a break and reflecting on just how blessed we are. Over 1,000 pieces of candy were involved. 🍬 😆

My husband and I just sat on our kitchen floor and packed OVER 130 HALLOWEEN TREAT BAGS. 🦇🎃🖤

• Over 130 Halloween goodie bags
• 5 packages for child life.
• 10 pumpkins for kids inpatient to paint or whatever they wish!
• Beef jerky, beef sticks, chips, drinks, etc. for family room.
• Make up remover wipes, claw clips, shower steamers, chap stick, spa facial masks.
• 60 DOZEN COOKIE + DREAMS COOKIES for the staff. 🍪☁️

Stead Family Halloween Haul 2023 was better than we ever could have imagined. So truly thankful to God for so many amazing people.
