The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for our area beginning late Thursday evening through noon on Friday. Windchills could drop below –35 degrees during this time, which could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Extremely cold conditions will continue through Saturday.

Because these conditions could occur for an extended period of time while classes are in session, the University of Iowa will move to virtual instruction on Friday, Jan. 23.
