University of Iowa DeGowin Blood Center

University of Iowa DeGowin Blood Center We are a hospital-based blood center that collects whole blood & platelets for UI Health Care & Stead Family Children's Hospital patients.

Each week more than 400 blood products are transfused at the hospital. Cancer patients, surgical patients, premature infants, people being treated for accident and trauma, recipients of marrow and organ transplants and patients with diseases such as sickle cell anemia and hemophilia all depend on donated blood as part of their care. Your blood donation will take about 45 minutes. You can make an appointment, stop by for a donation (walk-ins are accepted) or donate at one of the DeGowin Blood Center drives in the community.
