We’re getting ready for Memorial Day weekend with these adorable ribbon flag hangers for our doors! 🇺🇸

We also welcomed back members of the Iowa City Quilters Guild, who shared several of their beautiful patriotic quilts they’ve been hard at work creating. In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the guild is making 250 lap quilts to donate to the VA Hospital, and a handful of our residents were excited to help by tying lap blankets for the project.

These beautiful quilts will also be on display this July at the Iowa City Public Library!

Today we attended the final gathering of the season with the Iowa City Music Study Club, and what a wonderful way to end another incredible year! Each month has been such a special treat filled with beautiful music and talented performers.

For the final program, we enjoyed a stunning organ performance by talented UI students at Voxman Music Building, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the magnificent organ itself. What a memorable afternoon of music, learning, and appreciation for the arts! 🎶

What a beautiful way to celebrate the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and women in our community this Mother’s Day weekend 💐💖

On Friday, we gathered for a lovely tea party filled with laughter, sweet treats, and the beautiful harp sounds from Gretchen that made the afternoon feel extra magical. To top it all off, our ladies had so many gorgeous flowers to choose from at our bouquet bar, creating stunning arrangements as unique and special as they are.

We are so grateful for the love, wisdom, strength, and kindness these wonderful women share each and every day. Celebrating them was truly a joy! Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms and mother figures out there 🌷✨

Today was a full day filled with love and appreciation for our wonderful ladies. We began the morning with a special tea party, complete with lovely treats, laughter, and time spent together in the best company.

The celebration continued with beautiful live music from our favorite cellist, Keira, whose performance created the perfect, peaceful atmosphere for the day.

In the afternoon, the ladies gathered again for sweet treats and a jewelry-making activity, creating beautiful pieces while sharing stories, smiles, and plenty of joy.

Days like this remind us just how special our residents are and how meaningful it is to slow down and celebrate them. We truly loved showing them how cherished they are—not just today, but every day.

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Doris Montag for a beautiful presentation, Honoring our Mothers & Grandmothers – Needlework from the Dresser Drawers of Daughters, just in time for Mother’s Day this Sunday. 🧵💐

Residents were taken on a heartfelt journey through memories of mothers and grandmothers as Doris shared her stunning collection of crocheted pillowcases, delicate tatted handkerchiefs, doilies, dolls, and treasured heirloom pieces. Her “pop-up” exhibit sparked so many stories, smiles, and sweet moments of reminiscing.

It was a wonderful afternoon celebrating the love, craftsmanship, and traditions passed down through generations. ❤️
