A healthy living goal is something you want to do to improve your well-being. Instead of just saying that you want to eat more vegetables, make a specific goal, such as "I will eat 1 cup of vegetables at dinner Monday through Friday this week." move.va.gov

🥼🥼March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month 🥼🥼

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers, but it's also one of the most preventable and treatable when detected early. Here are a few key points to remember:
• Screening Saves Lives: Early detection through regular screening can prevent and treat colorectal cancer effectively.
• Know the Risks: Age, family history, diet, smoking, and alcohol use can increase your risk.
• Watch for Symptoms: Changes in bowel habits, blood in stool, abdominal discomfort, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue can be signs of colorectal cancer.
Take Action:
• Talk to your healthcare provider about screening.
• Maintain a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and regular exercise.

Our VA GI/Endoscopy team is committed to providing comprehensive screening and treatment services to our Veterans. Join us in spreading awareness this month.

In addition to traditional risk factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes, mental health concerns such as PTSD and depression can contribute to your risk.
The Million Veteran Program is studying ways to improve treatments for heart disease.
