All we need to complete this equation is....YOU!
One of the amazing side effects we see everyday as our guests come out after a float is happiness. In fact, clinical research shows that floating increases feelings of SERENITY.
But the most amazing thing happens when you make floating a consistent practice - those feelings increase exponentially. The things that usually stress you out have less of an impact over time. Happiness comes more easily. Gratitude flows.
Floating for an hour or 90 minutes on a regular basis often brings feelings of happiness that linger long after that water starts to swirl at the end of a session.
If you're anything like us, you're in search of healthier, fresher food options during the colder months. Packed with heart-healthy nutrients and extraordinarily adaptable, legumes are easy to add to your diet for wellness and heartiness. Beyond beans, try lentils, peanuts, peas, green beans, chickpeas, and soybeans!
Seasonal Affective Disorder impacts 10 million Americans, with women four times more likely to be diagnosed with it than men.
S.A.D. brings with it a mild or drastic swing in mood and energy levels, and include symptoms like:
π Feeling depressed most of the day, nearly every day.
π Losing interest in activities you once enjoyed.
π Experiencing changes in appetite or weight.
π Having problems with sleep.
π Feeling sluggish or agitated.
π Having low energy.
π Feeling hopeless or worthless.
π Having difficulty concentrating.
Many of our guests use floating to help combat their symptoms.
(Note that we are not medical providers, so please see a licensed professional if you have specific questions or concerns.)
That's just one of the many reasons we recommend turning off the lights while you float. Those super cameras (your eyes!) are constantly sending your brain things to evaluate and process!
Let your brain rest too.
Have you seen this amazing new documentary about floating? It starts with the story of Shane Stott, the film's creator, and how anxiety shaped his life at such a young age.
Throughout the film, you'll hear countless stories of how float therapy has helped so many people with anxiety, pain, depression, anorexia nervosa, and all of the challenges life throws at us. It's a powerful view into why we believe so firmly in the power of this therapy. We hope you'll watch it and let us know what you think.

There are many ways that creativity and art can overlap with mental health, and here's an easy one for you to try - doodling!
Not only can doodling be a creative outlet for your brain, but a 2009 study showed that doodling while listening to a lecture or conference call can actually help the doodler retain more information. So next time you're on an important call and you're having a hard time focusing, maybe let your pen draw out some of that energy and allow your brain to soak in the details!
We hope you have a sweet Valentine's Day!
Ray Bradbury said βLife should be touched, not strangled. Let it happen at times and at others move forward with it.β We think Ray was on to something with this message. Sometimes we need to just sit back and observe what is going on around us; we don't always need to control it. Making peace with observing what happens and moving forward or not accordingly is self-care.
Need a place to sit back and reflect? We can think of a great one... π₯°
Go ahead and fill in that blank for us.....
Nothing quite says "I love you" like gifting someone with an experience of complete and utter relaxation, something to make them feel their absolute best.

Coloring books are not just for kids! Did you know that coloring can be a great way to relax? It can also help manage stress and anxiety. Next time you're feeling stressed or depressed, try coloring in a coloring book. If you don't have a coloring book, you can download printable sheets off the internet, or color in your latest doodle.
We know, we know. We say it all the time, but self care is SO important!
Take care of you, and the rest will fall into place. Take a little time for your own self care this Valentine's month so you can better show your love to others. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

Do you ever just feel like your thoughts and emotions are weighing you down? Or like they're flying around your head like a tornado?
One great way to release all those emotions is collage therapy or intuitive collage (some call it a vision board too). It's an incredible way to let your subconscious process whatever's going on in your noggin, and it's a great exercise in processing emotions and thoughts.
What you'll need: a piece of paper, poster board, or cardstock to act as your backing, plus old magazines, scissors, and glue. Optionally, you can add other art supplies like stickers, markers, paint, glitter, etc.
How it works: Flip through the magazines and tear or cut out whatever pages or images call to you. Then arrange and place them on your board. When you're ready, take a look at your collage. What's it telling you?
This is also a fun group activity. You can pass around the magazines, and help each other "read" the collages once you're finished.
Do you ever find yourself realizing that you have strayed away from your self-care routine? π§
It happens to all of us at some point or another, but the good news is that we can get back on track! With so many people relying on us for care, assistance, and support, we need to make sure we are offering ourselves time to refresh. If this sounds like you, step back, take a breath, and schedule some time to see us real soon. π₯° It's never too late to start fresh again.
Many people think yoga and flexibility are interchangeable terms, and that you absolutely have to be flexible in order to enjoy yoga. But that's not true! Everyone can benefit from yoga, whether they can touch their toes or not.
If you're new to yoga, or are interested in mat Pilates classes as well, there's still ONE MORE WEEK to get three private one-on-one classes for either modality for only $150! These classes never expire, so you can use them whenever is convenient for you.
We hope you will give it a try!
What's the big deal about turning off the lights when you float? THIS IS.
Your eyes are the gateway to an information superhighway straight to your brain. Just by eliminating all of the stuff you see, your brain gets to reduce what it's processing by up to half! That's a huge mental break!
Do you float in the dark? If not, you might want to give it a try to see what a difference it can make in how you feel after your float!
Journaling is a well known method for managing mental health and even anxiety. Sometimes we need to write down our experiences to truly processes them. Other times, we may like to write out a fictional story for a little creative release.
Journaling is most effective when practiced daily. You can find a new prompt each day, or try one of these to answer daily:
βοΈ What went well today?
βοΈ What do I want to accomplish today?
βοΈ What do I need to hear today?
βοΈ What emotions did I feel today?
A study called "The Blue Mind Project" involved neuroscientists completing brain scans to compare first-time floaters with experienced floaters using an electroencephalograph (EEG), a machine used to measure brain wave activity.
They found that even in those who were not experienced in meditation, their brain activity was similar to that of high level meditators like monks, who spend hours each day in a meditative state.
Many of us know the benefits of meditation, but have a hard time achieving that single point of focus. Without the normal distractions caused by the 5 senses, meditative brain activity is much easier to achieve in the float environment.
Are you ready to try it?
If you need a little stress relief, we have a float room with your name on it.
Navasana, or boat pose, brings your whole body into your practice. An ab and deep hip flexor strengthener, this posture requires you to balance on the tripod of your sitting bones and tailbone to build mental and physical focus, inspiring a full-body awareness. Your legs and be straight, but most of us need some practice with bent knees before we get there - and some bodies never will. That's perfectly okay.
It's a give and take.
What are you ready to give up so you can take something else in?
The epsom salt does more than just help you float! And rather than using just a cup or two like you might use in a bath at home, we use 1200 pounds of it!
Do you find yourself taking too long to fall asleep at night, waking up frequently, or too soon?
π€ Science tells us that we need 6-8 hours of sleep each night to get the rest and rejuvenation necessary for optimal health. There are a lot of things we can do to help make sure we get the sleep we need including having consistent bed-time routines, limiting electronics, reading before bed, and having our last meal several hours before turning in.
π And of course, we love it when you let us help you prepare for a sound night of sleep by reducing stress, reducing soreness, and providing a relaxing time with a float or yoga class.
You want to be a good friend, right? If you've floated before, you know how awesome it can be. So don't keep it a secret! Your friends could be experiencing burnout, stress, pain, or just a cluttered mind that inhibits them from feeling their best. Floating can help calm the mind and provide the perfect reset to get back on track, and make them feel like they can take on the world.
In the profound book "Be Here Now" by Ram Dass, he says: "Emotions are like waves. Watch them disappear in the distance on the vast calm ocean."
π€ So, what does this actually mean?
It's easy to get caught up in your emotions and thoughts, and to think that's all you are, but what you really are is BEHIND all of that. Floating gives you the perfect space to file away your thoughts, rest, and see who you are beyond your to-do list and what's for dinner.
β‘οΈ Give yourself that space. β¬

Does your list of responsibilities, meetings, and appointments have you feeling overwhelmed? π€―
With all of the productivity aides we have today, it seems that all they do is allow us to try to pack more and more into our already busy lives. At some point, something has to give before it takes a toll on your health and personal relationships.
Take back control of your time and calendar, and be sure to prioritize wellness and self-care, and you'll actually end up with MORE time for yourself and loved ones.
Cat / Cow is one of the most accessible and versatile sets of yoga postures, and it has so many benefits! We've listed just a few of the reasons you should try cat / cow here.
Did you know you can even practice a version of cat cow while sitting in a chair (or in bed!)? Give it a try now, wherever you are, and then practice with us in the studio!
You may wonder why one would choose to rest in a small room without lights or sounds.
It's simple really - there's nothing else like it.
When you remove all of the external stimuli, there's less information for your brain to process. It begins to "lower the alarms", so the central nervous system moves into a state of rest, and you can find a deeper state of relaxation that you can when there are lights, sounds, scents, physical sensations, and such all around you.
(Of course, you're in control of the experience. If you don't want the experience of darkness and silence, you don't have to have it! You can choose to leave the lights on and listen to music if you prefer.)
First of all, yum. Second of all, YUM. And it's good for you!
Keep the mint leaves muddled in the glass, sort of like a mojito. For everything else, blend it all together and it'll make you about 2 servings. Who knew an immune-boosting drink could taste so good?!
No distractions. No judgment. No "should", "ought to", and no "need to". Just quiet. Just stillness. Just you.
π Happy New Year! We're down to the final hours of our biggest sale of the year, so start your's off right with weightless relaxation and a nice warm sauna!

Be safe and be well!
π€ Are you executing your calendars, or are you living your purpose? π€
Take time to slow down and think about what you are doing and why you are doing it. Are the actions you take congruent with the life you want? Are you taking the time you need to take care of yourself?
If you need a quiet place to contemplate all of that, we know just the place!
New to the practice? We would be honored to welcome you to yoga. The most important thing to remember is that it's YOUR practice - not anyone else's. There's no competition, there's no "doing it wrong".
The ocean is such a powerful force, and so are you. Next time you're practicing yoga, consider how your movements and breath mimic the ocean's waves.
π Listen as you breath in and out. Can you hear the woosh of the waves?
π Watch as you move through various postures (like Cat and Cow; Mountain and forward fold; Chaturanga and up dog) - like the rising and falling of the tides.
π Imagine as you drift into Shavasana - allow the wave to flow over you from head to toe, taking a little bit more of your tension with each breath/wave.
