The University of Iowa's Jacobson Institute and Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center are partnering to bring the DesignDash specialty program with the theme: Conquering Cancer One Idea at a Time.

Over 100 high school students statewide are coming to campus on September 19th for this one-day, innovation and educational excursion. We need you: medical professionals, scientists, researchers, STEM entrepreneurs, graduate students. You don’t have to be an expert in cancer research. We’re looking for community mentors to volunteer their time. Mentors will be paired with a small team of high school students to answer their questions, help them as they formulate their idea, and prepare a pitch. Register today to help make a difference in the next generation of innovators.

We are proud to have been designated a Center of Excellence by GO2 for Lung Cancer based on our patient-centered, evidence-based lung cancer screening.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., with an estimated 237,000 new diagnoses each year, typically when the disease is in an advanced stage. By screening patients at high risk for lung cancer using low-dose computed tomography (LDCT), lung cancer can now be found early, when it is most treatable.

✅ Fact: Clinical trials test new treatments and improve existing ones.
✅ Fact: You always get a real treatment—never a placebo alone.
✅ Fact: Trials follow strict safety guidelines, and you can stop at any time.
