Computerized Predictive Model for Distraction Grant (CPMD Grant) Researchers at The University of Iowa have developed a web-based system to help children better cope with pain during painful medical procedures.

Parents are coached to use distraction strategies with their child.

Ann Marie McCarthy, Charmaine Kleiber, Kirsten Hanrahan, and Brenda Gordley just returned from the International Symposium on Pediatric Pain (ISPP). A session was presented on the development of the computerized model. A poster detailing the development of a tool to track parent performance as a distraction coach was also presented.
