What a storm!! We hope everyone is safe! Our office has electricity but no internet. If you have questions about an upcoming appointment, please feel free to call the office at 319-338-9960 or email your doctor directly. We are monitoring the situation very closely, and will be contacting all of our patients as best we can. Just like you, we are struggling with spotty cell service, no electricity, and no internet at our homes as well! Thanks for your patience!

Due to ongoing concerns about the spread of COVID-19, we will continue to provide telehealth services through the end of August. We continue to reassess our policies and procedures, and are following CDC guidelines for safely re-opening businesses. If you have an appointment scheduled this summer with one of our doctors, it will be a telehealth appointment unless you've made other arrangements directly with your doctor. Our doctors continue to use Zoom for telehealth as our video conferencing platform, to provide a secure video telehealth appointment to meet your mental health needs. We are taking new patient appointments also, so please don't hesitate to call 319-338-9960.

04/21/2020

We will continue to serve patients through telehealth appointments until June. Our office will follow public health advice about re-opening for in person appointments, to keep patients and staff safe and healthy. We are accepting new patient referrals and scheduling appointments for telehealth services for existing patients. If you have an appointment scheduled in May with one of our doctors, we will be contacting you to confirm how to connect using Zoom for telehealth.

The safety and health of our current patients and staff are our top priority during this COVID-19 pandemic. While the risk in our community is still low, we want to make sure we are following public health official's guidance on the virus. The following are steps we are taking at Gersh, Hartson, Payne, Hoffman and Associates:

Increased cleaning and sanitizing of all surfaces and devices
Washing hands and/or using sanitizer before and after every session
Posting signs to encourage hand washing and policies related to COVID-19
Hand sanitizer available for all patients
Encouraging patients to bring the fewest number of people possible to appointments, and/or encouraging family members/caregivers to wait in cars to lower the number of people in our waiting room.
Patients told to stay home if ill or with fever
Staff will not come to work with a fever (or other symptoms of COVID-19 include dry cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and runny nose)

If a patient does not feel comfortable coming into our office during this emergency time period, we are providing Telehealth options for an as-needed basis.

Telehealth options using the Zoom platform will be available in the event that a patient is self-quarantined without symptoms, patients have symptoms and are unsure of the cause, the community is asked to restrict non-essential travel, the patient is uncomfortable coming into the office, or the provider is unable to be in the office. This is an option that is not intended to replace best practice in-person care, and will be offered on a temporary basis over the next month.

Please call our office at 319-338-9960 if you have concerns and want to discuss options for appointments.

A study tracking depression rates among U.S. teens from 2005 to 2014 finds an increase — especially among girls. A steady diet of harsh judgements from social media may play a role, researchers say.

One of the biggest myths? That children don't kill themselves. It's just not true. Children as young as 5 take their own lives every year.
