Russell Owen thought he was experiencing typical signs of aging this past summer until blood work indicated a more serious diagnosis—prostate cancer. His family encouraged him to seek care at University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, where urologic specialists used an MRI/ultrasound fusion guided biopsy. The advanced technology helps urologists precisely target the area of the prostate that needs to be sampled and can find hidden tumors and aggressive cancers that may be missed by other prostate biopsies.
“If you (develop prostate cancer), I would wholeheartedly recommend you seek care at UI Health Care,” says Russell. “It is a world-class hospital with state-of-the-art technology and incredibly gifted physicians. You could not be in better hands.”

A follow-up to yesterday's news of Dr. Hoffman’s retirement: of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Adult Hospitalist Program Director Dr. Kevin Glenn will step in as GIM interim Division Director until a national search can be conducted.
