White Supremacy tried to erase Black Grand midwives, their wisdom and legacy, for hundreds of years. Most of what we know about childbirth has been built on the work of these women, while men in sterile gowns worked to shame, discredit, and silence them. This month and always, we honor the Black Grand midwives and every birthworker of Color.

It's Black History Month!

So, we wanted to take the time to pay tribute to Black Midwives who have played a crucial role in supporting and improving Black families' health and quality of life for centuries.

Additionally, Black midwives face extra, unnecessary, sometimes insurmountable challenges in their practice and services to families in need of such care.

We thank, honor, and celebrate the lives and legacies of Black Grand midwives, midwives, and birth workers leading the way for improving Black Maternal Health.

Free virtual postpartum support group this Sunday, January 23rd @ 1:30 PM on Zoom. This is open to anyone within the first year (ish) following the birth or adoption of a child. These meetings are not intended to be a substitute for professional mental health care, but rather a safe space to share and build local community until we can meet in person again.
