✨Muscle of the week: Digastric✨

The digastric is a small paired muscle located in the front of the neck. It belongs to a group of muscles called the suprahyoids.

What does it do? It depresses the mandible (jaw bone) and elevates the hyoid bone during chewing and swallowing.

Where does it attach?
Anterior Belly: Digastric fossa (crater in the done) of mandible
Posterior Belly: Mastoid notch of the the temporal bone
