Richard Rommelfanger, Dawgs Injury Risk Reduction "Coach"
Masters degree trained physical therapist Richard Rommelfanger was treating Dawgs General Manager Joe Ferrante for back problems when they began to talk about prevention, training, education and injuries. Richard spoke about his role as a rehabilitation expert but he's just as enthusiastic about injury prevention. A former division one track athlete, Richard enjoys talking to players about the challenges of staying in peak condition and overcoming obstacles associated with injury. Exercises for the "At Risk Ball Player" are referenced in a handout that can be downloaded by clicking on the link at the top of the page. Richard's experience with high performing athletes includes work he's done with PGA golfers from the US Open at Torrey Pines and football prospects preparing for the NFL combine and draft. He has also worked with MLB players, pro volleyball players and track & field athletes.
Jennifer Manning has a doctorate in physical therapy from USC and works side-by-side with Richard at Breakthrough Physical Therapy, www.breakthroughphysicaltherapy.com. A strength and conditioning specialist, Jennifer is the rehab and prevention specialist for SCATS gymnastics in Huntington Beach.
Breakthrough Physical Therapy offers a free Athletes Injury Risk (AIR) screening at no charge to all Dawgs. Call Richard at 949-788-9253 to schedule an appointment.
