Too Much Screen Time?

Nowadays everything is connected to technology. We spend hours and hours on end looking at computers, streaming television, and scrolling on social media.

Now, an average American spends more than 7 hours for their screen time.

Spending too much time on your electronic devices can cause many negative effects on the body like impaired sleep, eye strains, headaches, neck pain, back pain, and shoulder pain.

Children that spend a lot of their time on technology can also be affected with long term effects. It can impair children’s sleep, delay their learning and social skills, cause behavioral problems, and even cause weight gain and obesity.

Experts say adults and children should limit their screen time. Children under 2 years old should have zero screen time. 2- to 5-year-olds should spend no more than one hour per day (with parental consent). 5- to 17-year-olds should spend no more than two hours. Adults are also advised to spend no more than two hours on their screen outside of work.

Wrist tendonitis is when the joint, tendons, etc. becomes inflamed and irritated thus making it uncomfortable to move the joint when needed.
Most patients complain of pain in the wrist at the onset of wrist tendonitis but there are also other symptoms that commonly strike. They include: Swelling in the joint, Redness and warmth in the joint, and A feeling of grinding in the joint as the tendons move.
Wrist tendonitis are most commonly caused by repetitive motions in the wrist that put stress on the tendons over time.
Though the specific treatment received for tendonitis varies from person to person based on the root cause of the issue, there are some common ways that the condition is treated. A splint may be recommended to help ease irritation and rest the tendon, and ice may be recommended to help relieve pain and stimulate blood flow to the area for healing. That doesn’t address the ways in which a person may use their wrist each day that led to the problem, which is where these wrist stretches come in handy.
Here are few exercises you can do for Wrist tendonitis at home: Wrist Extension and Flexion, Hand Flips, Wrist Extensor Stretch, and Wrist Flexor Stretch.
Wrist tendonitis is an uncomfortable condition but it doesn’t have to stop you from doing what you enjoy. Make sure to follow up with a chiropractor or a primary care provider to inspect your condition.

Losing sensation in one or both legs are typically caused by a lack of blood supply to the lower extremities. This may be the result of disproportionate pressure on the nerves from biking or sitting with your legs crossed and unlikely to be life-threatening. But sometimes the problem can be traced to another part of your body, such as a back strain that includes referred pain in your legs.
It may not last long, but if the problem of leg weakness is recurring, it can be the result of aging or arthritis developing on the spine. It may also be caused by spinal stenosis, which is a narrowing in the lumbar region of your spine.
Paresthesia occurs when the pressure applied to your legs compresses the nerves, inhibiting their ability to communicate with each other. There are several other symptoms you may experience, including tingling, burning, or a “crawling” sensation on your skin.
When leg weakness and pain travels down the back of your leg, it could mean you have sciatica, a condition that typically affects just one side of your body. The sciatic nerve stems from the lumbar region of your spine and spreads down your legs all the way to your toes.
One of the symptoms of sciatica is a growing pain that’s worse when you cough or sneeze. Although a mild case of sciatica may go away on its own, it can also last for weeks. A chiropractor can treat symptoms to reduce inflammation and minimize pain.
If your bouts with leg numbness seem to get longer and stronger, seek out the help of your primary care physician before calling your chiropractor for a treatment.

Coffee is considered one of the most beloved beverages in the world and because of that coffee specialty shops are popping up all over.
The point is people love coffee and most people can't start there day without there cup (or more) of coffee.
While there are pros well documented showing the benefits of drinking coffee, there is still a downside in drinking coffee.
Coffee is made from roasted seeds and contains a chemical called acrylamide. Acrylamide is classified as a group 2A carcinogen and extremely hazardous. Acrylamide has been shown to cause multiple types of cancers including renal, endometrial and ovarian cancers.
Coffee crops are also highly sprayed with pesticides like glyphosate and 2-4-D. These two chemicals are associated with different cancers and disrupt human biochemistry.
If you drink a lot of coffee I suggest asking your physician to order a glyphosate test (https://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/glyphosate-test). If your levels are high, it may be wise to re-consider that daily cup of coffee.
One important option to at least minimize some of these downsides to coffee consumption is to only drink organic and non-roasted coffee.
Even if you survive on coffee alone, make sure to consult with your doctor to see if the amount of coffee is alright for your body!

According to the Honey Bee Health Coalition, one-third of the food we eat is dependent on the pollination services supplied by honey bees. But because their involvement in supporting the growth of a diverse range of natural resources is somewhat indirect, it’s easy to overlook their importance to the system. The organization’s website explains just how foundational bees are in maintaining the global ecosystem.
The health of the bee population affects the world’s food supply and the economy. The pollination work of bees contributes to billions of dollars in the U.S. and Canadian agriculture industries. We rely on their distribution of pollen for food security that has been threatened because of several factors diminishing the sustainability of bees.
You can help reverse the threatening bee crisis without leaving home. When you design your yard, choose foliage with a high level of nectar and pollen content that provides a habitat corridor for bees.
A website called Backyard Beekeeping lists the kinds of plants that attract bees and other wildlife such as hummingbirds and butterflies. It can be as simple as choosing the right colors; bees are most attracted to flowers that are blue, yellow, purple, or orange. While hummingbirds tend to pollinate red flowers with deep tubes, bees prefer short tubes or no tubes.
The most attractive forage is situated in full sunlight and is planted in a group. Trees are also good for bees; it’s where they get most of their nectar and there is plenty of nesting material provided by trees.
Refraining from the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers will also help bees survive. Choose natural methods for protecting plant growth; whatever you use should be applied at night when bees are in nests.
Including a water feature in your yard is another way to serve the health of bees. A shallow birdbath or fountain can both attract and sustain bees. It’s especially important in hot regions where sometimes a honeycomb will melt in the hive.
Honey production does more than provide a spread -- it’s a process that affects the world’s food supply. When you give some thought to promoting the life of honey bees, the outcome may be sweeter than the fleeting taste of the condiment they produce.

Learning instruments are one of the first things taught at schools to children at an early age. What we don’t expect are the huge physical toll being a musician can have on the body. Some instruments can really put your body through a lot of strain, especially after hours and hours (and hours) of rehearsing combined with hours-long performances.
It makes you wonder how many other small children are out there playing heavy or unwieldy instruments and what the results are on their developing spines.
While music programs have a multitude of benefits for kids and should be fostered and encouraged wholeheartedly, we should keep in mind that children are still growing. This is especially true for their spines and joints where they are still developing.
Kids are constantly growing since their spines are still developing. It's absolutely crucial to ensure that your child's spine is growing with perfect alignment since eventually their growth plate would harden.
Playing an instrument, however, can definitely throw that alignment out of whack. And if left undetected and untreated, these small subluxations and joint restrictions can develop into serious back issues later on in life.
