With Christmas and Hannukah whirling around you... the unsent cards and the house in need of a scrub... the burned out bulb on the tree and the dog who just HAD to pick today to throw up on the newly washed floors... it's so important to remember what really matters this season and it's only one thing: Love.
Getting a script sold would be wonderful! A book deal? A publisher? Hooray! But the real stories that matter most are the ones within your own heart. Peace on earth starts with YOU. This means putting down old ideas of how life MUST be for you to be happy and adopting a new mindset based acceptance and joy instead of striving and fear.
Not everything will go our way with the holidays or our writing, but it's how we react to these blocks that matter most. And are they really blocks? Perhaps these "obstacles" are actually just lessons, showing up again and again, to teach us something - that while we might WANT certain things, what matters most is that we be kind to ourselves and others. Even those big Hollywood dreams are second to this, and until we learn that lesson, no contract or paycheck will amount to anything.
I forgive my older self for not knowing this. I honor my present self who may fall off the beam but gets back up. And I am excited for my future self who knows that she is so valuable and loved, no matter her career, her finances, her looks or her popularity. God has my picture on his refrigerator this Christmas season. That's good enough.
