Mercy Health — Marcum and Wallace Hospital recently hosted the 4th Annual Estill County Recovery Rally, where more than 190 staff hours and several community partners welcomed over 160 community members to celebrate recovery, raise awareness, and strengthen bonds in our community. We also honored the 2025 Estill County Mental Health & SUD Champion Award recipient, Mandy Watson, RN, Estill County Health Department, for her unwavering dedication and support of harm reduction and SUD education and resources in Estill County.
Mercy Health — Marcum and Wallace Hospital remains committed to combating substance use disorder (SUD). In 2025 alone, our dedicated staff have contributed over 475 hours to programs and initiatives supporting recovery, including:
✅ Court Program with Estill County Courts for diversions
✅ Family Accountability, Intervention, and Response (FAIR) teams
✅ Overdose Task Force and Quick Response Team (QRT) visits
✅ Collaborations with community partners: Estill County Health Department, New Vista, Helping Hands Outreach, Kentucky River Foothills, KY-ASAP, Operation Unite, Project HOME, Celebrate Recovery meetings, Estill County Sheriff’s Department, Irvine Police Department, Estill County EMS, Estill County Courts, including Judge Bo Leach, and many more.
We have also provided more than 180 hours of service and donated over $8,200 to ensure that transportation and other resources are available for those seeking recovery. Our QRT visits, in partnership with the Estill County Sheriff’s Department and Estill County EMS, allow us to respond quickly and coordinate care for individuals affected by the opioid crisis.
The Quick Response Team (QRT), comprising a peer support specialist, community paramedic, and behavioral health consultant, collaborates closely with community members to offer support, training, and Naloxone distribution to reverse opioid overdoses.
Estill County has proudly been recognized as a Recovery Ready Community, one of only 35 counties in Kentucky, for its outstanding Overdose Task Force, led by Mercy Health, and the Under the Bridge harm reduction and mobile outreach programs, led by the Estill County Health Department.
Mercy Health — Marcum and Wallace Hospital continues to provide recovery services while reducing the stigma surrounding addiction, working to ensure everyone in our community has the support they need.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the rally and to all our partners who make recovery possible in Estill County!
