I have been extremely uplifted about the research on awe:
Awe makes us feel more spiritual, generous with others and uplifted. I am always in awe at the beach and by the ocean. Making trips to the beach more often to feel the power of awe.

A truly heroic person:
1) Commits a generous act for someone unrelated to them and unknown to them at the time they decided to act.
2) This act has them behave in a way that has a cost to them or takes a personal risk.
3) This act is not required or expected.
They are signed if an extraordinary altruist! We can all be a hero.

Dr Aaron Beck died this week at the age of 100. What a life! Studied under Freud and discovered the ability and power in us identifying our distorted thoughts and changing them.

Life Expectancy Falling in the US:

For many, daily life lacks the structure, status and meaning that it once had, as the Princeton University economists Anne Case and Angus Deaton have explained. Many people feel less of a connection to an employer, a labor union, a church or community groups. They are less likely to be married. They are more likely to endure chronic pain and to report being unhappy.

These trends have led to a surge of “deaths of despair” (a phrase that Case and Deaton coined), from drugs, alcohol and su***de.
