I have been pretty quiet on social media the last few months, for different reasons.
At this time, I feel the need to post on a heavy matter being highlighted this last week in the case of George Floyd, May his soul Rest In Peace. 😢
I struggle to find the words, so I will resort to speaking from the heart.
My heart hurts. I mourn with all who have suffered an unjust loss at the hands of another.
For a few years now, for several and different reasons, I have had many a night going to sleep having panic attacks and anxiety about the world I’m raising my babies in. Wanting to run away with my family, and then realizing there is nowhere to go.
We have got to be better than this. Our world, despite all the love, good, light, and tolerance, is still ever so intolerant. Intolerant of race, religion, opinion, choice, political stance, color, and of difference itself. We have lost our way.
The time has come for awareness to spread! Awareness that change MUST happen!
I choose to to teach love. I choose to teach respect and tolerance of others differences, sameness, autonomy, choice, decision, race, religion, color. I chose to teach my children to fight for what they believe is fair and just and right. To respect humanity. To act kindly. To have compassion. To stand up!
The vile act of murder of George Floyd this week, one of MANY of its kind, should unite the world! The WORLD needs to wake up! Every citizen of every square inch of the world, NEEDS to come back to humanity and tolerance like never before. Better than before! Enough is enough! I believe this is a symptom of a greater problem!
As I said, I am having a hard time with words right now, and to be honest feeling rather uncomfortable. For lack of the better, the problem is TOLERANCE, or the lack thereof.
That in 2020, after everything this country and our world has experienced, I am even writing this.... makes me speechless. We have so much more work to do! So much further to go! So much to evolve and to learn.
Racism, hate, intolerance, violence - as MOhMs we have an opportunity here! We can create change as we raise the next generation!
