Hello and Happy New Year, Everyone!! We hope everyone is doing well as you get back into the rhythm of your typical routines.

We are planning something fun for 2026 and would love your feedback! We are considering offering a "Sensory Day Camp" on days when students are out of school. The dates we are considering are Feb. 16 and April 3. We would love your help by answering a few quick questions:

1️⃣ Which day(s) would be best for you?
2️⃣ Would you/your child prefer 9:00 am - 12:00 pm or another time range?
3️⃣ Do you prefer individual days or a full week such as during Spring Break?
4️⃣ Would you be interested in using these camps as a way to make-up missed appointments?
5️⃣ Would you still be interested if we offered this event at different locations, such as Nix Nature Center?

Your input means so much as we plan ahead! Please leave us a comment on this post or follow the link below to leave a comment :)

We are excited to introduce Ronan Roley Van Durme, born on July 30, 2025, weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces. 💙

Both mom and baby are healthy, happy, and soaking up all the love. Ronan is the sweetest little cuddle bug, and he absolutely loves being worn in a carrier, sometimes all day long! 🥰

𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐭𝐨-𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥: 𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐄𝐏⁣

As the new school year begins, it’s common to wonder: Is my child just adjusting, or do they need extra support?⁣

Here are some signs your child may benefit from an IEP (Individualized Education Plan):⁣

📌 They’re consistently falling behind in reading, writing, or math.⁣

📌 Trouble focusing, following directions, or staying organized.⁣

📌 Difficulty with fine motor skills (writing, cutting, tying shoes).⁣

📌 Avoiding school, homework, or specific activities because they feel “too hard”.⁣

📌 Struggles with transitions, routines, or regulating emotions in class.⁣

📌 Needs much more support than peers to complete the same work.⁣

📌 Ongoing teacher concerns about progress, attention, or behavior.⁣

📌 Frustration, meltdowns, or low confidence connected to schoolwork.⁣

𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐰 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐬:⁣
Parents have the right to request an evaluation at any time. If you raise a concern, schools must consider and respond under IDEA. You don’t have to wait for the school to bring it up; your voice matters!⁣

𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐎𝐓 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩:⁣
Occupational therapy is often part of the IEP process. OTs support children with:⁣
* Strengthening fine motor + handwriting skills.⁣
* Building attention and self-regulation strategies.⁣
* Developing independence in classroom routines.⁣
* Boosting confidence in learning and play.⁣
* Identifying the underlying sensory concerns that often contribute to classroom challenges.

𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐭𝐨-𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐩: Keep track of what you notice at home, talk with your child’s teacher early, and remember you are your child’s best advocate!⁣

💬 Drop your IEP questions below. We’re here to help you feel confident supporting your child this school year.⁣
