Donald Williams
September 16, 1936 – November 15, 2025
Donald Williams, 89, of Estill County, passed away on November 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Don was born on September 16, 1936, in Ravenna, Kentucky, the son of the late Isaac “Buster” Williams and Nannie Belle Trent Williams. He carried their values of humility, hard work, and faith throughout his life.
A man of steadfast faith, Don was an active and dedicated member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, where he served joyfully for many years and built lasting relationships within his church family.
Don lived a life marked by hard work, service, and deep devotion to God. His faith was not only something he professed—it was something he lived daily. He was known for his gentle spirit, unwavering integrity, and quiet acts of kindness that reflected the heart of Christ. Don believed in the power of prayer, the importance of serving others, and the promise of eternal life. His Bible was well-worn, his prayers sincere, and his faith unshakeable.
He retired from Columbia Gas of Kentucky after an impressive 43-year career, where he earned a strong reputation for honesty, reliability, and a meticulous work ethic. Don was well-respected by coworkers and customers alike, often remembered as the person who could be counted on in any situation. His dedication left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Prior to that, he proudly served three years in the United States Army. Don also devoted 20 years to the Estill County Board of Education, where he built meaningful connections with students and staff. His service to the board reflected his lifelong commitment to supporting education and investing in the next generation.
Beyond his professional roles, Don was deeply involved in his community. Whether lending a hand to a neighbor, supporting local events, or offering a word of encouragement, he lived out the values of generosity and service. His quiet acts of goodwill touched countless lives across Estill County.
A proud 1955 graduate of Estill County High School, Don was a co-captain of the winningest basketball team in the school’s history, which was later inducted into the Estill County Athletics Hall of Fame. He left an enduring mark on his teammates and the school’s athletic legacy.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Brandenburg Williams; his son, Terry Williams; and his daughter, Donetta Tiller (Lawrence). He was a devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren—Riley Birchfield, Megan Williams Caleb), and Lexi Don Tiller—and a proud great-grandfather to Jaden Birchfield and Leo VanNorstram. He is also survived by one very special sister, Barbara Rison.
Additionally, Don is survived by his brother-in-law, Jr. Brandenburg, a sister in law, Madonna Jenkins, and two sisters-in-law: Christine Brandenburg and Carol Brandenburg. He also leaves behind many beloved family members, nieces, and nephews, all of whom cherished him deeply.
Don leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue to guide and comfort those who loved him. He taught his family the value of prayer, the strength found in trusting God, and the peace that comes from walking faithfully with the Lord. While his presence will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he has entered his eternal home, whole and rejoicing in the presence of his Savior.
