Statins: The unexpected ally in the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Statins, commonly used for cholesterol management, might have a new use. Recent research shows that use of pitavastatin may also reduce the chances of developing pancreatic cancer and chronic pancreatitis. This opens up exciting possibilities for using statins in the fight against cancers that are linked to chronic inflammation.

We are excited to share that BREAKTHROUGH GENOMICS has been honored with the CIF 2024 Innovation Award at the California Investment Forum held this past week in Anaheim. Our Co-Founder and CEO, Dr. Laura Li (Ph.D, FACMGG) accepted the award in recognition of Breakthrough Genomics’ pioneering work in deploying AI and machine learning techniques to improve rare disease diagnosis and the early detection of pancreatic cancer.

A heartfelt thank you to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network for hosting the Purple Stride events across the country dedicated to the continued fight against pancreatic cancer. Our Breakthrough Genomics team was honored to participate, advocating for early detection through our blood-based test.

Especially great to hear the many speakers share their stories of survival and dedication to the cause, including Lisa Swayze and Kitty Swink - a 20 year pancreatic cancer survivor, and also one of a number of actors and team members from the hit series Star Trek who all participated in the LA Event. Congrats to their team Trek Against Pancreatic Cancer which was one of the top fundraising teams in this year’s event.
