One of the first ever National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded trials of remote therapeutic monitoring (RTM) in stroke rehab has launched.
Flint Rehab + Tenovi, together with Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, are testing how wearable technology and cellular connectivity can help therapists track patient progress outside the clinic.
The study will follow 50 participants recovering from subacute stroke, comparing a monitored RTM program to standard home exercises, with Tenovi’s secure dashboard giving therapists real-time insight to track progress, intervene sooner, and adjust care plans, while measuring upper extremity function (FMA-UE), feasibility, therapist workload, and potential reimbursement.
This landmark study could change how stroke rehabilitation is delivered nationwide, making remote therapy more connected, measurable, and effective.
