🛏️ Sleep, Screens & School Stress.

Struggling with bedtime battles?
Screens and stress might be messing with your child’s sleep and their school day.

🔹 Blue light delays the production of melatonin (aka the sleep hormone)
🔹 Anxious kids often resist bedtime, not out of defiance, but worry
🔹 Try a tech-free wind-down routine: bath, book, calm music

Better sleep = better mornings.
Small changes make a big difference.

One of the quickest ways to calm your nervous system? Your breath. 🌬️

Shallow chest breathing can actually increase anxiety, but slow, diaphragmatic breathing tells your body it’s safe.

Try this simple practice:
Inhale gently through your nose, then slowly exhale—longer than your inhale.
Breathe out through your nose or mouth, whichever feels best.

Just a few minutes can shift everything.

🌱It's International Self-Care Day!🌿

Today is a global reminder to slow down, check in with yourself and prioritize your well being in some way: physically, mentally, spiritually, or socially. Pour a little extra care into yourself.

Self-care isn't selfish, it's essential in sustaining ourselves. Whether you're taking a stroll, cooking something a little nicer for yourself, or giving yourself an extra 10 minutes to relax before your next task, today is the perfect time to reconnect with things that you do just because you'd like to!

What's one way you're practicing self-care today? Leave a comment and inspire someone else to do the same.

Feeling overwhelmed or disconnected? Nature might be just what your nervous system needs. Research shows that spending time in natural environments can reduce stress, improve mood, and support long-term mental wellness.

Here are a few simple ways to bring nature into your healing process:

🌲 Forest Bathing – Slow, mindful walks through trees or green spaces help lower stress hormones and increase focus.

🚶‍♀️ Mindfulness Meditation Hikes – Tune into your breath and surroundings as you move slowly through nature.

🐦 Bird Watching – A calming practice that invites presence, curiosity, and joy.

🌱 Gardening – Connecting to the earth through your hands can reduce anxiety and improve your mood.

🐎 Equine Therapy – Horses reflect our emotional state and help us regulate and connect more deeply.

🧘‍♀️ Restorative Yoga in Nature – Gentle, supported movement outdoors can help your body and mind reset.

These aren’t about doing more—they’re about slowing down and coming back to yourself.

✨ Want extra support? Certified yoga therapist Susan Kjesbo offers restorative yoga sessions on Wednesdays at our Irvine office or via Zoom.
