To all of our Irving and Big Sandy patients - Dr. Dan has been suffering with some side effects from his cancer treatment. One of the side effects is extreme weakness. There are some days where he can barely stand, let alone walk. He has been pretty much bedridden for the last couple of weeks. It is with much sadness that we tell you that he will no longer be able to see patients until he regains some of his strength back. We have met with his oncologist, and the doctor decided to suspend his chemo treatment until we can figure out what is going on. He has also been suffering from extremely painful cramping over his entire body which brings him to the point of tears. He was given an IV for dehydration and some Va**um for the cramping, and that seemed to give him a miraculous boost of energy and strength. However, it seems as if he is still getting dehydrated or something else is going on because he is pretty much in the same bad shape as he was when we went to the oncologist last week. We have a follow up appointment on Tuesday, and we are hoping that they can give him another IV. He has been drinking lots of water, Gatorade and Pedialyte in order to try and stay hydrated, but something is just not right. Due to his extreme weakness, the oncologist also ordered a brain and full spine MRI. We should also get the results of that next Tuesday. We both are hopeful that he will be able to return to work at some point. He really loves what he does and loves all of his incredible patients. This is killing him to have to give this up - even if it is just temporary. If you are so inclined, any and all prayers for him would be greatly appreciated. We feel incredibly blessed with all of the wonderful people that are in our lives. Lots of love, Michele Dan and Dr. Dan
