Benefits of Fiber:
* Lowers cholesterol levels
* Reduces Cortisol (the main stress hormone)
* Stabilizes insulin & blood sugar levels
* Lowers bad estrogen
* Helps with detoxification & weight loss
* Maintain healthy bowel movement & gut health - if you don’t p**p everyday, we’ve got to talk!
* Helps you live longer
Fiber reduces the risk of:
* Heart disease
* Type 2 diabetes
* Diverticular disease
* Constipation
* Colon cancer
* Breast cancer
Most Americans only consume 10-15 grams of fiber per day.
IDEAL DAILY FIBER INTAKE: 60 grams per day. (RDA recommendation is too low)
GOOD SOURCES OF FIBER:
* Vegetables
* Legumes
* Whole grains
* Fruits
* Nuts & seeds
WORK UP SLOWLY!
It’s important to increase your fiber intake slowly as increasing it too quickly can cause gas, bloating and even constipation. Bloating and gas are also a sign that you don’t have healthy gut microbiome.
