Our History

On November 10, 1933, burial services were held for Mr. M. J. Pendergrass at Oak Grove Memorial Park, marking the beginning of honored and continued years of continuous service to the families of Irving and surrounding communities. For nearly a year, prior to then, two men from Grand Prairie, J. D. Fowler and J. H. Turner, had been busily engaged in developing slightly over twelve acres of land on East Irving Blvd. into a cemetery.

As Irving grew, so did Oak Grove. In 1955, experienced cemeterians took over the operation of the cemetery. Then, in early 1959, a lot owners association was chartered by the state. The new association took over the assets of the cemetery and in 1960, built Oak Grove Garden Mausoleum, a 324-crypt structure for above ground entombment.

Then in 1970, a new concept of burial was introduced. The Garden of Faith was developed into lawn crypts with a complete drainage system installed beneath all crypts.
