EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy designed to help the brain process distressing or traumatic experiences that can feel “stuck” in the nervous system. In a session, a trained clinician guides you through recalling these experiences while using gentle, structured forms of bilateral stimulation often side-to-side eye movements, taps, or sounds.
This process helps your brain reframe and integrate memories in a way that reduces their emotional intensity. Over time, experiences that once felt overwhelming can feel more manageable, and the thoughts, feelings, or physical sensations tied to them can shift. EMDR doesn’t erase memories, it helps you process them safely so that they no longer control your daily life.
The therapy takes place in a safe, supportive environment where you remain in control, and the pace is tailored to your comfort. Many clients notice relief from anxiety, trauma, or other persistent emotional challenges, along with an increased sense of clarity, calm, and resilience.
