About Dr. Carlos Chapa

With over 20 years of experience in traditional and alternative/complementary medicine, Dr. Chapa has treated many patients with acute and chronic conditions. Dr. Chapa served in the military as a Medic (Navy/Marines), worked in several Hospitals (Emergency Rooms) including Trauma 1 centers and Children's Hospital. He started as an EMT/Paramedic and continued his studies with dreams about becoming a Doctor. He loved treating patients but realized that Eastern Medicine had many advantages, especially when dealing with Chronic pain and problems. Dr. Chapa discovered his passion for Eastern Medicine while studying abroad in China and found his calling with the results he witnessed. After returning to the U.S., he followed this interest and studied at the Dallas College of Oriental Medicine and Dongguk University of Oriental Medicine, where he received his Masters Degree of Science in Oriental Medicine. He then continued his studies for the next six years and received his Doctor of Philosophy in Oriental Medicine (PhD). During his studies and after graduating, Carlos has completed several hospital externships and residency programs in South Korea. He was fully sponsored by Donggkuk University to study at one of the world’s first hospitals incorporating both Eastern and Western medicine. Dr. Chapa continues to travel and train with one of the worlds most famous Doctors and Hospitals in S. Jaseng Hospital, founded by Dr. Shin is a world leader treating spinal and joint disorders. Dr. Chapa is the first american that has been invited to Jaseng to learn more about Korean medicine and train at the hospital. With this solid foundation of both Eastern and Western disciplines, Carlos has gained the trust of many primary medical doctors who routinely refer patients to him. A native of Dallas, Carlos is glad to be back and is very excited about introducing Eastern Medicine to the Dallas area. He reminds his patients,
