Over the past three evenings, we hosted a series of UNO Nights at the library, complete with a nacho and taco bar for all to enjoy. Each evening offered a chance for children, teens, and adults to gather together for games, laughter, and community. The adults only night in particular brought out a spirited and lively atmosphere! We are grateful to everyone who joined us for these enjoyable evenings. A special thank you to the Harlan Lions Club for sponsoring these programs.

Shoutout to the Hansen family for completing their summer reading challenge (while riding in a vehicle during vacation)! Each one of them read 1,200 minutes and came in to the library to claim some awesome prizes: baseball tickets, Blank Park Zoo tickets, The Grounds Coffee Shop drink tickets, candy, a puzzle, and Cirkul drink cartridges.

Lied Irwin Public Library will be offering a 3-part series Junk Journal workshop the first Saturday of Sept, Oct, and Nov.
This workshop is free. Please bring a snack to share.

You will learn how to create a junk journal, along with learning techniques to add embellishments and other details throughout your journal. Open to anyone who enjoys crafting!

Congratulations to Lillian and Dax for reading 1,200 minutes this summer! Dax chose Blank Park Zoo tickets and Lillian chose The Grounds Coffee Shop drink certificates. Way to go you two for sticking with it all summer!

Library fundraiser to end the summer! Get a team of 4 together and complete a 500 piece puzzle, one large pizza, and a 2-liter bottle beverage of choice. There will also be "Level UP" options to sabotage other teams for $5 each which will go into a 50/50 raffle. Come out and support the library!

Today was our last Candyland Concoction Storytime of the summer, and we ended in the ooey-gooey Chocolate Swamp! We joined Curious George on an adventure to the chocolate factory and discovered that chocolate starts as a cocoa bean. The kids enjoyed a rich and chocolatey snack of brownies, chocolate pudding, and chocolate milk. For art, we got creative (and a little messy!) painting with cocoa, and everyone explored cocoa’s journey with fun cocoa bean worksheets. A sweet ending to a sweet summer series!

The Boxcar Children and Diary of a Wimpy Kid were popular as these two read this summer to complete their Summer Reading Challenge. Marlee and Matteo each read 1,200 minutes this summer and came into the Lied Irwin Public Library to pick out their prizes! They both chose a giant slinky. Way to go!

If you are still working on this challenge, you have until the end of August to get it turned in or until prizes are gone.
