With autumn in the air, pumpkin bars and candy corn to snack on, and creativity flowing, each pumpkin became a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. A special thank you to Becky Feser, our talented retired art teacher, for leading the class; it was the perfect way to welcome the new season.

Today was filled with so much fun at the Lied Irwin Public Library with our Forest Friends. Our morning started off with show and tell. Declan brought in different nuts from trees- pecan, yellow buckeye, burr oak, and hickory. It was neat to see such a variety.
Christina Roelofs, Shelby County Conservation Board, came and shared lots of knowledge about beavers today! She passed around a beaver skull, showing us how big their teeth are, a tail, their front and back feet, and a piece of wood gnawed by beavers. Kids could dress up as a beaver too!
Kids could build their own beaver dam, build a beaver lodge, and make a beaver puppet. Snack included beaver meat (tastes just like roast beef!), yellow watermelon, and beaver lodges.
Our next Forest Friends will be Oct. 16th at 10am.

This year will be the 48th Greenridge Steam and Gas Engine Antique Show!!! Things like this take a lot of volunteers and even more work to keep it going. The Greenridge members are asking for pie donations to help continue this amazing event for years to come.
Pies can be dropped off Friday at the Lied Irwin Public Library from 8am-4:30pm. Pies can also be delivered to Greenridge on Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st in the morning. Thank you for your support!

The Greenridge Steam and Gas Engine Antique Show is next weekend.
Greenridge members and volunteers are busy getting the place ready for visitors, but are looking for volunteers to donate pies to sell in the food stand.

If you love to bake and love to help the community, please consider making a pie. Pies can be of any flavor, other than cream pies due to refrigerator space.

There are a few options for delivering pies: Friday 8am-4:30pm at the Lied Irwin Public Library, or Saturday/Sunday mornings at Greenridge.
