Inflammation...the cause of everything! I heard this quote from a noted nutritionist years ago. Basically he says that all health conditions begin with and are propogated from inflammation.

What causes inflammation? There are many sources, but the main sources are:

1. Stress
2. Inflammatory diet choices
3. Overuse, Repetitive strain and/or poor biomechanics
4. Drugs, toxins, chemical exposure

The main dietary choices that cause inflammation are bread, pasta, cereal, and anything with sugar or high fructose corn syrup as ingredients.

Car Crash and Sports Injuries
In my 34 year Chiropractic career, I have given over 100,000 chiropractic adjustments. I often hear a similar refrain; "Ever since that car accident 10 years ago, my neck has given me trouble!". How does this happen? To simplify, injuries can alter normal joint mechanics via spasm, ligamentous sprain, and inflammation. This can accelerate the aging process of these joints and this may lead to early arthritic changes. Chiropractic restores normal mechanics, and may prevent premature aging of spinal joints.

I recommend educating yourself on your health daily. I recommend "The Empowering Neurologist", and "Restoring Human Movement" podcasts. Listen to these while walking, working out, or even while you are in the shower! Excellent information!

Health Maintenance

Most frequently patients are initially motivated to seek treatment at our office because of pain. Once the pain is gone, patients ask how often they should schedule to prevent this from recurring and maintain their health. My advice is minimally, once every 6 weeks, and optimally every month, if they have no pain. Personally I am adjusted every week, and have found this an invaluable tool for health maintenance.

A Great Start to your day! Smoothie for breakfast. In a blender , add 1/2 cup each of Frozen blueberries, cherries, strawberries. Add a handful of walnuts, 3 scoops of protein powder, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water. Blend to desired consistency, and enjoy.
