The WEHF Board of Directors was proud to present Spring Capital grants supporting projects that improve health, safety, accessibility, and community connection across the West End.

Grant recipients included:

🚒 Champion Township received $4,400 for a water filtration system in the Champion Fire Hall
🍴 received $3,500 to support community dinners throughout the West End
🧑🏻‍⚕️ Great Lakes Recovery Centers, Inc. received $10,000 for detox monitoring equipment to improve health outcomes and patient safety
💻 Michigamme Township received $10,000 for its PATHWAYS to WELLNESS program, bridging generations through technology, social connection, and health support
🛩️ Northwoods Airlifeline received $10,000 to help provide access to care through air transportation for Upper Peninsula patients
🌨️ RAMBA received $5,700 for RAMBA Snowdog ea Mountain Bike Association received $5,700 for RAMBA Snowdog grooming equipment

The Capital grant provides funding for non-programmatic initiatives that support the purchase of physical items or improvements, including equipment, technology, durable goods, and facility upgrades. These projects are making a meaningful impact by supporting community wellness, access to care, and quality of life throughout the West End.

Supporting projects that strengthen health, wellness, and community impact across the the West End.

The WEHF Board of Directors presented Special Grants to:

🚵🏻 Start The Cycle received $10,000 for its e-bike raffle initiative.
🧑🏻‍⚕️ UP Children's Therapy received $10,000 for its Sideline AT Support project.

We are proud to support programs creating meaningful opportunities and resources for our communities.

Investing in the health and well-being of our students and school communities.

The WEHF Board of Directors was proud to present School Grants to the following districts:

🏫 NICE Community School District received $25,000 for funding a full-time school nurse for 2026-27.
🏫Ishpeming Public Schools District received $25,000 for student mental health support.
🏫Republic-Michigamme Schools District received $25,000 for its mental health rescue plan.
🏫Negaunee Public Schools received $25,000 for a district health coordinator.

These investments will help strengthen student support systems and create healthier learning environments across our communities.

🥬Each year, Proactive Grant funding is guided by a specific community priority that supports health and wellness in Marquette County’s West End. For the 2026 funding cycle, the focus will be on food security, with funding dedicated to non-profit programs and services that improve access to reliable, nutritious food for individuals and families in the region.

Applications are due by June 1, 2026.

Registration for our 2026 camp session is now open! Camp will take place August 4-8, 2026. Please visit campupeninsulin.com/register to sign up. Registration closes on June 30, 2026. The cost to attend camp is $20.

Camp is intended for children ages 9-17 with Type 1 Diabetes. If your child does not yet meet the age requirement, please consider attending our day camp on August 7, 2026. Registration for this event can be found on our website.
