Once again, things are feeling very uncertain and scary in our current political climate and I want to gently remind you that there is a small, quiet community here in Ishpeming where people come together to make art and witness one another through it all, including the grief.

Last political grief group we started a collaborative group project passing around letters and each adding something and building on each other’s composition.
Sitting with something new in front of us with presence are both things that community asks of us. And through that we can create something bigger than us.

Our final weaving class resulted in truly unique and beautiful circular weavings.

What stood out most to me isn’t just the finished pieces, but the confidence that’s been built along the way. The willingness to experiment, to keep going when something doesn’t work the first time, and to bring this practice home as a way to unwind.

I’m so inspired by this group 💛

Week 3 of weaving in the round 🧶

Looking at these pieces side by side, from week 1 to now-you can really see the growth. Not just in the weavings themselves, but in the confidence behind them.

What started as learning the basics has turned into experimenting, problem-solving, and trusting your creative intuition. I’ve been so inspired watching this group take it beyond the studio by unwinding ith weaving at home, trying new techniques, and showing up each week with curiosity and momentum to keep making.

This is the kind of growth that isn’t just about skill, it is about giving yourself permission to explore. And it shows! Can’t wait for next week :)
