“I went almost a week without my antidepressant.

“I requested a refill last week, and I’m still not entirely sure what happened, if there was a backlog at the pharmacy or at my doctor’s office (or both!), but I accidentally cold-turkeyed my Lexapro. And it was not a fun time.

“I experienced extreme dizziness, nausea, fatigue, a lot of emotions, and everything just felt hazy and dark.

“Within hours of taking a dose of my antidepressant today, I feel human again. The dizziness is gone, I don’t feel like I constantly need to take a nap, and it feels like the world has color again.

“There is no shame in taking medication if you need it to manage a mood disorder. My antidepressant makes me a better mom, a better wife, a more present friend, a productive employee, and I’m not ashamed of needing it. Ending the stigma around mental health also means ending medication stigma, so if you need meds to feel like you, I’m here for it 🤗💙”
