hi 👋🏼 i’m + this is my wild, wonderful little family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 these two small humans are my constant teachers + source of introspection. they bring more love, joy, frustration, purpose, empathy, fatigue, adventure + crazy (!!) to my life than i ever thought possible 🤪🥰

it is because of them (+ my husband’s support/encouragement), that i am here today — guiding, nurturing, empowering other women on their journeys 🤍 my path has been anything but linear … and i wouldn’t have it any other way — so grateful for the perspective + clarity these beautiful souls have helped me find 💫

MOTHERHOOD 🤍 a word with such monumental meaning that I’m not sure it could ever be accurately defined to capture the range of human experience + emotion that it encompasses. it isn’t always linear + it looks different for everyone. regardless, it is an ever-evolving relationship, role or responsibility that profoundly affects + shapes us.

is always a bit introspective for me, as i reflect upon my own complex maternal journey … and recall, intimately, the moment i felt the magnitude of becoming a mama myself. i celebrate all of the people who played a critical role in this special BIRTH day — my husband, reproductive endocrinologist, holistic fertility practitioners, nurses, obgyn, birth doula — for without them, i may not be the i am 🙏🏻

as we celebrate this beautiful, messy, raw, purposeful thing call today … i’d like to honor those who play this role but maybe don’t assume the label — stepmoms, foster moms, surrogates, fathers who also mother. i’d also like to acknowledge that this day is accompanied by grief + pain for many … and to recognize those yearning to be mothers, those who’ve lost a child, those who’ve lost a mother, those who are estranged from their mother … I SEE YOU 😘

as i transition from my work as founder of (n/k/a Happy baby + dragonfly wings) to supporting families through this new platform in the , there may be no better time to introduce myself given the gut-wrenching legislative developments this week related to in 🇺🇸. as a woman, mother, attorney, birth doula, maternal coach … i am shocked + terrified that, in 2022, pregnancy/childbirth could be forced upon a person — much less in a country that provides such minimal maternal/parental benefits, resources, or support. bringing a child into this world is one of the most poignant, life-changing — and sometimes life-threatening — decisions a person will ever make; the informed CHOICES related to that are inherently personal, not political, and belong to the woman, along with those individuals she elects to involve.

while i can’t control or change what appears to be happening at the judicial level, i can offer support/guidance during that leads to an increase in self-advocacy, as well as a more positive + experience. and, even if only in some small way, i hope that makes a difference 🙏🏻
