A PLACE
UNDER PAIN

There’s no explaining
how things get stirred in
our mind, though they
gentle out in our heart.
I only know that despite
or because of all that gets
in the way, I am returned
to a stillness that waits
under everything.
At the bottom of every
hope and regret, a place
under all fear that is not
afraid, a place under all
pain that is not hurting.
A place we can settle into
like the arms of a loved one
who only utters, “I know.
I know.”

What a joyful way to conclude our summer learning series, celebrating a new group of Reiki 2 graduates! This wonderful group was eager to practice and receive Reiki, ensuring a smooth and harmonious flow in our two days together. They approached their learning with heartfelt intention, demonstrated openness and vulnerability, trusted the process, and established meaningful connections through the practice of Reiki. If you’ve ever wondered where Reiki really came from or what’s fact vs. folklore, this one’s for Justin B. Stein - Reiki ResearchStein - Reiki Research, for a special 75-minute session on August 6 at 12 PM PT!

Justin is a historian of Japanese religion and spirituality, Chair of Asian Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and the world’s leading academic voice on Reiki’s early development. His first book, Alternate Currents, traces Reiki’s evolution across Japan, Hawaii, and North America through the life and work of Hawayo Takata.

In this session, he’ll share insights from historical documents, including rare Japanese texts and Takata’s unpublished autobiography, to explore:
