Kristy Mitchell
DNP, ANRP, PMHNP-BC Nurse Practitioner

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner atDayspring. Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of caring for others in a variety of settings—including pediatric home health, neuroscience and epilepsy care, and inpatient adolescent behavioral health.

I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment for individuals of all ages. My specialties include working with children, adolescents, and young adults, particularly those with ADHD, Autism, and other neurodevelopmental differences. I also treat related mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, OCD, irritability, social difficulties, and sleep issues. Additionally, I support individuals experiencing PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other emotional and behavioral health concerns.

My primary goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel heard and actively involved in your care. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and together, we’ll work as a team to develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to your unique needs. Because psychiatric medications can work differently for each person, we’ll regularly check in to adjust your plan and find what works best for you. I also offer suggestions on lifestyle modifications and therapy, and I collaborate with other specialists when additional resources or referrals may be helpful.

In my free time, I love recharging at home with my family. My partner and I have been together since high school, and we have a daughter who is at such a fun age! Watching her learn, grow, and discover new things each day brings me so much joy. We also have a fluffy Bernese Mountain Dog/Golden Retriever mix who keeps us active. As a family, we enjoy going on walks and watching shows or movies together. When I’m not with my family, I enjoy listening to audiobooks and baking.

Sarah Hoyt
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate

My name is Sarah (she/her), and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate here at Dayspring currently seeing clients in person. I received my masters degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. Providing therapy services to people of various ages, ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, and socioeconomic status is something I am familiar with, and enjoy doing. I come to Dayspring with a background providing multicultural counseling at my graduate school internship, and working in eating disorder treatment and recovery in the past with teens and adults. The main issues I work with kids, teens, and adults on are anxiety, social anxiety, depression, trauma/CPTSD, ADHD, ASD, parent coaching, grief/loss, eating disorders, body image, life transitions, and relationships to name a few.

Everyone deserves to be listened to and attuned to. My aim is to provide a space where my clients feel seen and heard, while also learning to handle their pain. Promoting self-awareness and aiding them to be able to regulate their emotions is key in my work. In order to make behavioral changes, we need to understand the cognition behind the choices we are making i.e., the root of our decisions and the why.

I hope to show my clients what a healthy, positive therapeutic relationship can look like. Transformation can and does happen in the therapy room. Every person has the ability to bloom

Stop That!

Often as pediatric psychologists we are asked by parents how to stop a specific problem behavior. Stopping problem behavior in children involves a combination of understanding the underlying reasons for the behavior, setting clear expectations and boundaries, providing positive reinforcement for desired behaviors, and using appropriate consequences for undesirable behaviors.

Each week we will be adding a new Parent Tip to help you address behavior problems.

We are here to help and have availability for new appointments.

Liam Wright
Counseling Intern

I’m a Counseling Intern at Dayspring as I wrap up my Master’s in Counseling and move towards licensure. With a background in music therapy studies, an MAdegree in Pastoral Counseling, and a long and varied history of providing support to others, one of the biggest things I’ve learned is this; sometimes we just need a little help to process what we’ve been through, identify who we really are, and figure out what we want out of life.

My Approach to Counseling
I believe that everyone can benefit from a supportive partner on their journey of growth, healing, and self-discovery; especially when life gets tricky or in the moments we feel stuck. In the same way that Frodo Baggins had Sam with him as they navigated twists, turns, and trials across Middle-Earth, I view my therapeutic role as an affirming partner and co-collaborator in my client’s adventure who believes in them, is invested in their wellbeing, and is there to support them in accomplishing their goals.

My approach to counseling is rooted in self-compassion and empathy. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and creative space where clients can explore emotions and develop personalized strategies based on what makes them, them. My practice primarily incorporates elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, allowing us to tailor our work together and find the right strategies or tools to build effective skills for the long-haul.

I’m passionate about helping individuals navigate issues such as depression, anxiety, grief & loss, trauma, neurodiversity, building relationships, and concerns related to identity; especially with teens and young adults. Wherever you’re at or whatever is bringing you to therapy, we can embark on a meaningful journey together - I’m excited to support you every step of the way!

Stephanie Ruiz-Martinez
MA, LFMTA

I am dedicated to helping people work toward improved relationships and well-being. With a gentle and caring approach, I want to create a safe space where everyone feels seen and understood.

I have experience from co-facilitating group therapy to providing telehealth therapy and in-person in community mental health to teens, children, couples and families. My experience in working with diverse groups goes back from early childhood education as a preschool teacher and elementary ELL Para-educator.

I work with a diverse group of clients which includes children, teens, adults, couples and families. I am passionate about helping people work towards improving relationships and their well-being. My approach to therapy is through a systemic lens. Meaning I acknowledge cultural identities, religious beliefs, relationships, and community, and how it impacts therapy outcomes, goals, and treatment plans. I believe that the attachment styles that people create has an impact on the way they create relationships and perceive their story and how it keeps them in the ongoing cycle that they have been accustomed to.

I am a first-generation Mexican-American who is passionate about using my native language any chance that I get to break those barriers of communication. I am a family-oriented person who enjoys spending all the time possible with family and friends. I am also a big foody girl who enjoys trying different types of food. I also enjoy going to the gym and weightlifting.
