The Risk of Adoption Mitigation Pilot Program (RAMPP) is a new initiative for the 2026 growing season aimed at reducing the financial risk of adopting advanced nitrogen management technologies.

Developed in partnership with Central Platte NRD, Lewis and Clark NRD, and Lower Niobrara NRD, the program combines traditional NRD cost share with performance based risk mitigation. It is designed to support growers as they transition to sensor and model based nitrogen management systems.

RAMPP uses economic optimal nitrogen rate benchmarks to evaluate outcomes and help offset potential losses when following in season, data driven nitrogen recommendations. This structure allows growers to test and adopt new approaches with added financial protection while maintaining a focus on measurable results.

The program also outlines clear requirements for participation, including data collection, eligibility criteria, and ongoing management practices to remain qualified for support.

As additional NRDs come online, RAMPP represents an early step toward broader adoption of outcome based nutrient management programs.

Producers interested in participating can contact Kelly Cole at Central Platte NRD at 308-395-7134 or [cole@cpnrd.org](mailto:cole@cpnrd.org), or connect with a certified service provider to learn more about enrollment.

There’s no shortage of data.

There is a shortage of clarity.

“We’re not here to add noise. We’re here to bring clarity.”

That’s the difference between collecting imagery and actually using it to make a decision that matters.

If you’re not measuring it, you’re guessing.

And guessing gets expensive.

“This isn’t about theory. It’s about what happens in your field.”

We break down how to move from assumptions to actual field-level decisions—especially when nitrogen costs and risk are high.

Early planting can give you an edge—but it also extends the window of risk.

Cooler soils, slower emergence, and longer exposure to disease, insects, and saturation all come into play. Creating the right “Goldilocks” environment—balanced moisture, adequate warmth, and intentional fertility—sets the stage for a strong start.

Key considerations:
• Soil temperature and moisture at planting
• Strategic early nutrient placement (only where it matters)
• Timing nitrogen closer to crop demand—not just convenience
• Managing early-season water to drive deeper root development

The reality: corn only takes up ~6–8% of its nitrogen by V6. That’s an opportunity to adapt, not overapply.

With the right tools and timing, early-season decisions can work for you—not against you.

At Sentinel Ag, we use the word stewardship often, but we do not take it lightly.

Around here, it is not a tagline. It is a calling.

To be a good steward means carrying responsibility for the land and water, for the data, and for what has been entrusted to you. It means making decisions that hold up not just this season, but long after it.

We know this word can feel heavy right now. These are tight, uncertain times. Every decision carries weight. Every input, every pass, every acre matters more.

That is exactly why we are here.

We stand with growers, building tools that help you honor what stewardship means on your ground, in your operation, and for your future.

Because stewardship is not just about today. It is about getting to tomorrow with something still left to build on.

What does good stewardship mean to you?

Soil moisture at planting isn’t just about getting the crop out of the ground. It sets the trajectory for the entire season.

In this blog, Agronomic Advisor Bob Gunzenhauser breaks down how early-season moisture impacts root depth, nitrogen availability, and crop resilience. Too wet, and you risk N loss. Too dry, and you limit emergence.

The goal is balance. Because water and nitrogen aren’t separate decisions. They work as one system.

Conditions change. Agronomy should too.

Rainfall patterns, soil water movement, and crop growth all influence nitrogen demand throughout the season. Fixed plans rarely capture those shifts.

Sentinel supports an Agile Agronomy approach that combines water insights, nitrogen modeling, and crop performance data so decisions can adjust as field conditions evolve.

Not all parts of a field perform the same year after year.

Sentinel Ag’s image based zones combine Sentinel 2 satellite imagery from crop canopy development and crop senescence over the past five years to identify areas of consistent crop performance differences within a field.

These zones help guide sampling, nitrogen evaluation, and other field activities so agronomists can focus attention where it matters most.

It is another way Sentinel supports an Agile Agronomy approach that adapts management to real field conditions.

Sentinel Plots help isolate nitrogen stress from other yield limiting factors.

But plots are not always maintained, and product blends can complicate interpretation. That is why we developed Virtual SI. It allows agronomists to get more value from Sentinel even when plots are not present in the field.

Virtual SI will be available to CSPs in BETA through the Insights tab in 2026 and provides another tool to respond as crop conditions change during the season.

That is Agile Agronomy.

Planting beans this year?

Keep Sentinel in your rotation.

Many of our partners rely on Sentinel across their corn acres, but historically that meant sitting out the soybean year. With our Irrigation Tier, Sentinel can now support irrigated soybean fields as well.

• Daily satellite imagery
• Soil water insights
• ET tracking
• Deficit and stress risk monitoring

Sentinel doesn’t have to sit out soybeans anymore.

Nitrogen markets are feeling pressure again as geopolitical tensions disrupt fertilizer supply chains.

When nitrogen prices rise, the margin for inefficiency disappears.

That means every pound applied needs to be understood in the context of crop demand, soil conditions, and water movement.

Sentinel helps agronomists see nitrogen performance in season so they can respond with confidence.
