Cayuga Health, a member of Centralus Health, has been awarded a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to support the Street Medicine Access Residency Training Initiative, a first-of-its-kind program in the region designed to train future physicians to provide compassionate, equitable healthcare to individuals experiencing homelessness. The award will enhance Cayuga Health’s Internal Medicine Residency Program by developing hands-on, community-based training opportunities focused on street medicine and care for vulnerable populations. Club members teamed up with the CMC Philanthropy Department, volunteering their time and creative talents to design and install dazzling trees, wreaths, and seasonal displays that lift spirits throughout the hospital.

Join us in congratulating Nancy VanEtten on her retirement! After an incredible 43 years of service, Nancy retired last week. Nancy’s journey with Cayuga Health began when she was just 18 years old. She worked in multiple departments throughout her tenure starting in Housekeeping and most recently as a valued member of our Laboratory team. For more than four decades, she has been known among colleagues and patients alike for her hard work, kindness, and unwavering commitment to patient care.

November 14 is World Diabetes Day, honoring the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, co-discoverer of insulin and a pioneer in saving lives.

This year’s theme, Diabetes at Work, shines a light on the unique challenges people with diabetes face in the workplace, from managing blood sugar swings to navigating stigma and misunderstanding.

Knowing how to respond in a crisis is important. But so is creating a culture of empathy, awareness, and support. Let’s build workplaces where everyone feels safe physically and emotionally.
