A letter from Dr DeSilva:
To my families and patients,
After 28 wonderful years serving as a pediatrician at Northeast Pediatrics, I am writing to let you know that I will be retiring in the next year, with my last day 12/31/2026. This decision is a bittersweet one, and comes with a mix of emotions—gratitude, nostalgia, and a profound sense of appreciation.
It has been my great honor to care for your children—many of whom I have had the joy of seeing grow from their very first moments through every milestone, and even some now returning with children of their own. I will forever remember the shy smiles from a scared child on a parent’s lap, faces full of pride as I heard about accomplishments from the past year, the anxiety and worry during one phase of life that morphs into relief, and then joy as we watch a child navigate phases of life in this tumultuous world.
Serving this community and building relationships with each of you has filled my career with meaning and joy (and at times sadness). I cannot think of a more rewarding career than being able to watch and help someone grow from newborn to child, to teen, to a wonderful adult ready to step into this world.
I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me to care for your children, and for the warmth and kindness you have shown over the years. The laughter, the challenges, and the triumphs we have shared will always hold a special place in my heart.
Please rest assured that I am working closely with my colleagues to ensure a smooth transition for your children’s continued care. Our practice will remain dedicated to providing the highest quality pediatric care you have come to expect, and I have every confidence in the team to continue this tradition.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family and for making the past 28 years so rewarding. I will miss seeing you all (and hope to say goodbye in person over the next 12 months).
With deepest gratitude and warmest wishes for your families’ health and happiness,
Sincerely,
Audrey DeSilva
PS: I would love to have pictures of everyone to remember them by. If you have the time or inclination, I would certainly appreciate it if you could send a picture of yourself or your child. For folks who have aged out I also would love a little comment about what you are now doing-I always wonder what happens to folks lives once they leave my practice!
