Self-trust doesn’t usually arrive all at once.

It shows up in small shifts.

You pause before reacting.
You notice what feels right or wrong in your body.
You stop needing everyone else to approve.

These moments are subtle, but they’re powerful.

They’re signs that something inside you is beginning to organize around your own knowing.

This kind of exploration is exactly what we practice inside my small group experience, *Elusive Authenticity.*

One of the most powerful shifts people experience in this work is letting go of the idea that it has to be perfect.

Instead of asking:

“Did I do it right?”

We start asking:

“What happens if I try this?”
“What changes if I soften here?”
“What else is possible?”
"How can I PLAY?"

That spirit of curiosity opens the door to real change.

This is the culture inside *Elusive Authenticity* — a small group space for exploration, self-trust, and authentic expression.

Most of us were trained to look outside ourselves for validation.

🌟 Gold stars.
👏 Praise.
👍 Approval.

But eventually the work becomes learning how to listen inward.

Not for the applause.
Not for permission.

Just for that quiet sense of:

“this feels true."

This is the heart of the work I do inside Resonant Knowing.

If this kind of exploration speaks to you, I share reflections and practices in my newsletter. Link in bio.

One of my favorite metaphors I use in voice work is the idea of a "vocal budget."

If a singer or speaker is pushing and straining all the time…

they burn through their budget before the moment that really matters.

But if their baseline is ease?

Then they have options.

Then they can make what I jokingly call a 'vocal splurge.'

They can push harder.
Get gritty.
Bring the full emotional power of the moment.

Because they chose it.

Not because tension was running the show the whole time.

Honestly, the same is true in life.

A lot of us are operating in constant effort mode:
pushing through discomfort,
overriding our instincts,
ignoring what our bodies are asking for.

And then we wonder why we feel disconnected from ourselves.

Authenticity starts when effort becomes a conscious choice instead of a constant habit.

That’s exactly what we explore in **Elusive Authenticity** — how to reconnect with your body’s signals so your voice, your decisions, and your expression come from a deeper place of truth.

If that’s the kind of authenticity you’ve been craving, you’re invited.

We’ve gotten very used to edited humans.

Perfectly curated feeds.
Polished messaging.
Carefully optimized personal brands.

And slowly — often without realizing it — we start trying to edit *ourselves* the same way.

We rehearse what we’re going to say.
We soften our opinions.
We override the little signals in our body that say “that’s not quite true for me.”

But the people who actually move us?

They don’t sound like computers.

They sound like humans.

They pause.
They feel.
They speak from somewhere real.

Authenticity isn’t about figuring out the perfect thing to say.

It’s about reconnecting with the internal signals that tell you what’s true *before* your mind starts editing.

This is the work I explore in my somatic practice and in my class series, **Elusive Authenticity**.

If that resonates, you can learn more — or join my weekly newsletter for reflections and practices — at the link in bio.

One of the things I tell singers all the time:

A song is never the same twice.

Not because the notes changed.

Because **you did.**

You’re a different human today than you were yesterday.

Different experiences.
Different emotions moving through your body.
Different wisdom available to you.

And yet many of us feel pressure to show up as a fixed version of ourselves.

Consistent. Predictable. Palatable.

But authenticity doesn’t work like that.

Authenticity is a **living relationship with yourself.**

It asks:
What feels true *right now*?

What does this moment call for?

More honesty?
More courage?
More softness?
More boundary?

This is the work we’ll be doing in **Elusive Authenticity** — reconnecting with the signals in your body so you can trust what’s true for you in real time.

If you’ve been craving a deeper relationship with your own voice — whether you’re a speaker, teacher, artist, leader, or simply a human trying to live honestly — you’re invited.

A thought from the voice studio that applies to basically everything in life:

Stop trying to make your humanness sound like a computer.

We live in a world where almost every voice we hear has been edited, filtered, polished, and optimized.

After a while we start believing that’s what we’re supposed to be too.

Perfect.
Controlled.
Consistent at all times.

But the thing people are actually craving?

A real human.

Someone who speaks honestly.
Someone who feels something.
Someone who hasn’t sanded down every edge.

Authenticity isn’t about presenting a better version of yourself.

It’s about learning how to **listen to the signals already inside your body** — and letting those signals guide how you speak, lead, create, and show up in the world.

I wrote more about this in last week’s blog (which I somehow forgot to share 🤦‍♀️).

If you’re curious about reconnecting with your own internal signals, that’s exactly what I explore in my newsletter — along with simple somatic practices.

Last week I told my 12-year-old no.

Not because I had proof.
Not because something obvious was wrong.
Not because I could fully articulate it.

I just had a gut feeling.

We talked it through. I named every logical concern I could think of. We had a thoughtful, grounded conversation.

And then I said,
“I just have a gut feeling.”

They immediately understood.

No pushback.
No argument.
Just acceptance.

Because they know what that means.

We’ve raised them to trust their internal signals over external approval. To move when it feels aligned. To accomplish things because it feels right in their body — not because someone is clapping.

Most adults were never given that.

You were praised into performance.
Conditioned to override discomfort.
Taught to explain yourself until your intuition went quiet.

That’s why trusting yourself can feel so hard now.

But your body never stopped knowing.

If this resonates, I created a free self-trust daily practice to help you reconnect with that internal signal.

You can download it here: https://resonantknowing.kit.com/4f28b4c0e4

And if you’re ready to go deeper, enrollment for Elusive Authenticity is open now. We do this work in community — rebuilding embodied self-trust from the inside out. Class begins April 8.

A reminder for today: your body carries the clarity.

Not your thoughts. Not your plans. Not your excuses.

Notice it. Trust it. Speak it.

03/04/2026

You think you need a better mindset.

You don’t.

Your mind is designed to preserve familiarity.

Familiar patterns.
Familiar roles.
Familiar safety.

Even if those patterns keep you small.

Your body is different.

Your body registers truth immediately.

The tightening in your diaphragm.
The heat in your chest.
The contraction in your throat.

That signal is evolution trying to happen.

But if you’ve been conditioned inside oppressive systems — your motor patterns override the signal before you speak.

That’s not weakness.
That’s neuroplastic efficiency.

In Elusive Authenticity, we don’t try to convince your mind.

We increase interoceptive awareness.
We track contraction.
We interrupt the pattern.
We speak from the body before the old script runs.

The mind preserves.
The body evolves.

Registration is open.
We begin April 8.

If your body reacted while reading this, pay attention.

Enrollment is open.

If you can hold a room
but struggle to hold your own knowing —

this is for you.

If you are competent, articulate, capable
and still find yourself overriding your body —

this is for you.

Your nervous system is not fragile.

It is precise.

It adapted to systems that required you to be careful.

Now we practice something else.

Safety inside your own body.
Curiosity instead of contraction.
Voice as capacity — not performance.

Elusive Authenticity begins soon.

Enrollment is live.

Trust the response in your body.

Your nervous system is not broken.

It is in love with you.

It has been scanning for threat, reading power dynamics, tracking tone shifts, anticipating consequences.

It adapted to systems that reward compliance and punish difference.

It learned:
Be smaller.
Be easier.
Be careful.
Be impressive.
Be quiet.
Be exceptional.

That isn’t dysfunction.
That’s strategy.

But when safety and curiosity enter the room, something else becomes available.

Choice.

You can feel the contraction and stay.
You can notice the urge to shrink and pause.
You can listen for the deeper signal underneath the adaptation.

That signal is not loud.

It’s steady.
It’s rooted.
It’s yours.

Elusive Authenticity is a space to practice that.

Not pushing.
Not performing.
Practicing safety inside your own body until your innate wisdom has room to speak.

Enrollment opens tomorrow.
