They said: "We Do!" 💍❤️📄📑

You know when it’s right—and judging by the smiles on their faces, joining the community at Kendal at Ithaca will be a great match for this couple!

By signing the Kendal contract, they are now officially committed to a community that supports living well, laughing often, and lifelong learning. With new friendships on the horizon, as well as time for new hobbies, there are sure to be plenty of adventures ahead.

It looks as though they have made the right choice (again!❤️)!

In February, during a cold spell, the café staff hosted a French food-themed day to warm our spirits! The menu featured French onion soup, salmon rillettes, mussels marinière, lamb gigot à la cuillère, and vegetable cassoulet.

The staff embraced the spirit of the event, and the chefs prepared the dishes with love and attention.

Everyone agreed: "C'est un régal!"

Adding Years to Our Lives and Life to Our Years
Since Thanksgiving, 210 residents and staff members have logged more than 5,500 miles in the 2026 Annual Kendal Marathon — that’s over 11 million steps together!
To celebrate the milestone, the community gathered for ice cream and proudly sported their new commemorative T-shirts. As resident Tom R. joked, “It’s amazing what some people will do for a T-shirt.”
All kidding aside, this achievement reflects the energy, commitment, and camaraderie that make our community so special. Way to go, everyone! 👟🎉

What’s the perfect way to spend a cold Saturday? Thanks to the generosity of a resident at Kendal at Ithaca, staff, residents, and their families boarded the warm Kendal bus for a fun-filled afternoon of bowling and lunch. The outing offered an opportunity to relax together and for families to connect with the remarkable people we are honored to work alongside each day. It was a fun celebration of the strong sense of community that truly makes Kendal at Ithaca special.

Today we celebrate Linda's 30th work anniversary at Kendal at Ithaca! Linda is the Health Care Dining Coordinator, and takes pride in ensuring every resident feels special at meal times. She has also been instrumental in the training of new staff over the last few decades. Thank you Linda, for your years of service, here's to many more!

On Friday, December 12, residents and staff gathered to celebrate Kendal at Ithaca’s 30th Anniversary, honoring the people and relationships that have shaped the organization since its founding. The celebration recognized founding members, longtime staff, and second-generation residents whose families have remained connected to the community across generations.

The Kendal Indoor Plant Committee had a busy weekend with two horticultural student groups from Cornell! The undergraduate horticulture club, the Hortus Forum, generously provided new plants for the community to enjoy and dedicated their time assisting with repotting Chinese Evergreens and rejuvenating long-standing Bromeliads.

During the same weekend, the Plant Committee also partnered with the Cornell Horticulture Honorary Society (PAX), which packed and hand-delivered over thirty orders of stunning poinsettias, grown and nurtured at Cornell, to Kendal as part of a fundraiser. Everyone who received one commented on their colorful beauty!

Ongoing collaboration with student organizations like these allows Kendal to expand its collection of plant species from around the world. The Indoor Plant Committee is grateful for the opportunity to work with such knowledgeable and generous members of the Cornell horticulture community, and Kendal at Ithaca appreciates the talented efforts of the Indoor Plant Committee.

At Windows Dining, the aptly named restaurant at Kendal at Ithaca, residents come together to enjoy exceptional meals, build connections, and experience a welcoming atmosphere designed to foster community. Tonight, the staff appreciated the sunset as they prepared the dining room for the dinner crowd.
