She studied physical therapy at Ithaca College and massage in New Mexico, and holds licenses in both fields. Trigger points develop in response to stress or injury in a muscle. They can be a primary source of pain, a component of pain, or can contribute to other myofascial dysfunctions. Trigger points usually refer pain to areas other than the point of injury, and can mimic other diagnoses. So, if shoveling doesn't completely wear you out this winter, here is a little incentive to remember that regular exercise helps you stay healthy and get past some of the everyday aches and pains, especially from Fibromyalgia.
