Oats are a very versatile food, and can be prepared in a number of different ways.

Steel cut oats are the least processed and contain more fiber. However they do take more time to prepare. Regular or quick cooked have less fiber and are softer. Instant oats are quick cooking and highly processed. They usually contain additives(sugar and flavoring.)

NUTRITION INFORMATION for 1 cup uncooked regular/steel cut:
307 cals
10.65g protein
5.28g fat
54.48 g cabs
8.2g fiber

Oats are a good source of thiamin, phosphorous, and manganese.

They are versatile and can be used in baked goods, granola, muesli, meatloaf, and as a thickener in stews and soups.
