Meet Claire! Our Yogi of the month

-What's your favorite yoga pose?
Down dog is my go-to but I also love half moon!

-What is something that brings you balance?
Riding my bike! Both literally as a means of transportation, and figuratively as the fresh air and movement give my brain clarity.

-What is something about you that your Mighty community may not know? (fun fact)
When I'm not at Mighty, you can find me upside-down teaching at Circus Culture or teaching bike mechanic classes for women, trans, femme, non-binary folks for the Shift Program housed at Bike Walk Tompkins.

-What makes you Mighty?
Being a part of this awesome, creative, playful, and resilient community. I feel so lucky to have called Ithaca home for over 10 years, many of which have been filled with Mighty classes!

Meet Danielle!
-My favorite self-care ritual right now is sitting down before the sun rises, lighting a candle, and writing my morning pages with a warm beverage (usually matcha or chai)
-My favorite yoga pose is Matsyasana or Fish Pose
-My fun fact about myself is that I hope to one day have a little hobby fiber animal farm -- sheep, alpaca, Angora rabbits, goats -- in the hopes of processing their fibers and botanically dyeing them all myself.

Pose of the Week! Childs pose (Balasana)

Meet Jessica!! Our February teacher of the month, check out her class on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9am.

Fav self-care ritual: In the winter, a bath is one of my go-to self-care practices. It gets me away from doing work or anything else productive so that I can really commit to resting. Some bath salts, a candle, a good book, and a glass of wine, and I'm all set!

Favorite Pose: As does everything, it evolves from season to season. Lately, more than a particular pose, I've been enjoying focusing on a certain type of breath awareness in particular poses, especially breath retention in twists. Holding at the top of inhale in a revolved standing hand-to-foot pose taps into an energy of focus and potential, whereas holding at the bottom of exhale in a twisted down-dog invites a very different energy of grounding and anchoring within. Twists are very challenging for me, so they are a prime place of learning and study for me.

Fun Fact: I am a classical pianist and singer/song-writer! When I'm not practicing yoga, I'm somewhere teaching piano, performing, or making music with my local band Jenny Stockdale and the Wax Matches.
