Michigan ranks near the bottom in how Medicaid long-term care dollars are spent.
In FY 2023:

• Only 30% of Michigan LTSS funding supported Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS)
• 70% went to institutional care
• The national average is 53% for HCBS

Services like meals, transportation, and in-home care help older adults remain independent and live safely at home. It’s time to rebalance Medicaid spending and expand access to programs like MI Choice so more people can receive care where they want to be, at home.

Tell your legislators you want to see Michigan keep up with the rest of the Country and see more dollars go towards HCBS!

Experience the sights, sounds, and traditions of Indigenous culture at the 𝟯𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 “𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲” 𝗣𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘄 at Central Michigan University.

Held March 21–22 at John G. Kulhavi Events Center | McGuirk Arena, this vibrant gathering brings together 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 in a celebration of community and heritage.

Pow wows are cultural gatherings where Indigenous people come together to 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Many songs are sung in “vocables,” allowing singers from different tribes to join together in rhythm and unity.

Visitors can watch 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 $𝟰,𝟬𝟬𝟬, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 for youth through Golden Age dancers. It’s a meaningful and welcoming way to experience a living tradition that continues to evolve while honoring the past.
