Just got out of the OSU vs Rutgers game…my first OSU game!

There were 100,023 people in attendance. The stadium is something alright. Massive!

Remember to do something you’ve never done from time to time. Live a little!

Life can be stressful…so, this weekend I’m doing something I haven’t done in a long time…

I’m taking the weekend off. Going out to a comedy show, going to a football game, and not doing any work around the house or in the office.

Find what you enjoy. Something that relaxes you. And do that.

It can be as simple as staying in and reading. Watching movies or shows. Putting a puzzle together. Painting. Whatever it might be.

Just remember to make time to decompress.

Our bodies and our minds both need to rest. If we don’t intentionally allow them to do that, our mental and physical health will suffer. Literally.

Our immune system will be less effective and we can get sick more often. We feel run down. We’re less productive. And this just compounds the issues.

Take the time to take care of yourself. Everyone needs it. Without exception.

Massage & Cupping: Why I Use Both

Cupping isn’t just for athletes—it’s a great tool for loosening stubborn muscle tension and improving circulation. When I combine massage with cupping, it helps lift and decompress the tissues instead of just pressing down on them. That means less stiffness, better movement, and faster relief for many people.

If you’ve ever wondered what those round marks actually are: they’re just temporary areas of increased blood flow, not bruises, and they usually fade within a few days.

If you’re dealing with tight shoulders, a stiff back, or chronic tension, cupping can make a big difference.

“Why colder weather makes old injuries flare up — and what you can do about it.”

When the temperature drops, it’s like old injuries suddenly remember they exist.
Knees that behaved all summer start complaining… low backs get tight… shoulders feel stiffer than they should.

Cold weather might not cause pain, but it definitely turns up the volume on things that were already irritated — especially scar tissue, joints with arthritis, and muscles that haven’t been moving as much now that we’re indoors more.

A few simple things can help keep everything from locking up on you:
• Light stretching throughout the day
• Short walks (even inside) to get blood moving
• A heating pad for stiff spots
• Staying hydrated — your muscles and fascia really do notice

And if you’re dealing with a spot that always flares up this time of year, that’s usually your body saying, “Hey… this needs a little attention.”

Stay warm out there — your muscles are trying their best. 🥶💪

Most massage therapists don’t do this…

When you schedule an appointment with me, I do require that you fill out an intake form. And that’s because I am working with specific issues that may have a more complicated background.

I do a verbal interview (fancy way of saying “I talk to you”), physical assessments (I look at and feel the problem areas), and we develop a treatment plan.

And then we get started once we have agreed on how we’re going to proceed.

It may sound more complicated than it is. Just get a hold of me in any of the ways listed below.

If you have limited mobility in your neck it might not just be your neck that’s the problem…

Your fascia—the connective tissue that runs through your entire body—acts like one big web. When part of it gets tight, it can pull on other areas you wouldn’t expect. So sometimes neck tension isn’t just a “neck problem.” It might be coming from the legs, hips, or even the calves.

It’s one of the reasons I work more than just the problem area of the body during medical massage… because everything really is connected.

If your neck has felt stiff, achy, or limited lately, this might be part of the reason.

It snowed yesterday, and now that the cold is settling in, most of us are spending way more time indoors. That usually means more sitting, more couches, more screens, and way less movement than our bodies are used to.

Cold weather tightens muscles on its own — then add hours of sitting inside, and it’s no surprise people start feeling more neck tension, low back stiffness, shoulder aches, and those annoying headaches that show up out of nowhere.

If you’re noticing that your muscles feel tighter lately, try adding a few small movement breaks throughout your day. Even 1–2 minutes of gentle stretching or standing up to move around can make a big difference. Your body loves circulation, even when the weather outside isn’t exactly inviting.

Stay warm out there.

Ever notice your knees ache, but nothing’s actually “wrong” with them?

Tight quadriceps, hips, or calves can pull on those joints, causing discomfort that feels like knee pain.

Massage therapy helps by addressing the source, not just the symptom.

So often we push ourselves until we can push no more. We need to head that off and take a break. Take a rest day. Before our bodies make us take several or a week.
