💜 September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month 💜

Each year, nearly 100,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer, which includes cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. Awareness, early detection, and timely treatment can save lives.

At UMMC, our providers are dedicated to compassionate, comprehensive care for women facing these diagnoses, and we’re committed to spreading knowledge that empowers prevention and early intervention.

☀️ Mississippi summers are no joke—especially if you’re expecting! At UMMC Women’s Care, we want to help you stay cool, safe, and healthy throughout the hottest months of the year.

Here are a few tips for beating the heat during pregnancy:
💧 Stay hydrated – Aim for 8–12 glasses of water a day.
🧊 Avoid peak sun hours – Try to stay indoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when the sun is strongest.
🌿 Dress for the weather – Lightweight, breathable clothing can make a big difference.
🚶‍♀️ Take it easy – Listen to your body and don’t overdo it with outdoor activities.
❄️ Cool off often – Use fans, cold compresses, or take cool showers as needed.

If you’re feeling dizzy, overly tired, or notice swelling, be sure to reach out to your provider. Your comfort and health—and your baby’s—matter most! 💕
